I would never drive after drinking but I occasionally go out with my friends and have a few beers. I live very close to a downtown area and always walk to the bar if I go. My assumption is they will test when I meet with my probation officer. Any idea if they give random tests? I am obviously done with Marijuana and have no problem submitting to drug tests but am I concerned they might just call me some night and ask me to submit random alcohol test. Also what if I have a few beers when I am at home, can they just show up and see that I have beer in my refrigerator? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

See..I think this is crap. Weed is ILLEGAL, booze is not. So why do they test people for drinking and tell them they cant.

But yes, random urine or blood test.

Alcohol in the system can only be detected in the blood or breath (which is a proxy for blood) when you actually have it in your system, which is basically just a few hours after consumption (depends on how much has been consumed) There is, however, a pee test that checks for a byproduct of alcohol consumption. There was recently an article about it in the Wall Street Journal, but in reading the article, there was no reference to the test being used to enforce terms of probation, probably because it's a pretty expensive test.

If Michigan probation officers are like those in Va., 9-5ers, so no worries about after hours testing. But, if one should show up at your home, he/she can ask to look in the fridge, so be discreet

I've been on probation for that a while back, and am on probation for another charge right now. The way they do random drug tests is that they put your name into a random drawing system, and if your name is picked, you take the test when you see your officer next. So it's not that random really... You would usually only take the test or not when you go to see the officer. They won't just call you out of the blue. If you see your probation officer once a month, than a couple of days before you see the officer, stay clean, the rest of the month, drink up.

frequently, if somebody is caught with a small volume (< 1oz) they are able to get off with an excellent and probation. reformatory time would take place however the size short. If there grow to be a bigger volume, that's possibly he had "motive to distribute" the drug. regulation enforcement would have found a scale, small bags, and a huge volume of marijuana thereby deeming him a "broking" which has some distance worse effects (ie 10 3 hundred and sixty 5 days penal complex sentence) then possesing some for inner maximum use. The regulation/conviction sentence in Georgia relies upon heavly on the type and volume of narcotic. Marijuana falls into the drug catagory that's of the backside order hence it maximum possibly ability he had motive to sell for this reason reflecting the ten 3 hundred and sixty 5 days sentence. i'm uncertain approximately parole lawsuits.

The way they check is calling you anytime for a random test. They use urine, and you have to report to the designated place within a certain period of time. If you fail to report, or you report late, it is as good as a positive result.

Your PO can go to your house at any time and check for things that are against your probation. The PO can also authorize the police at anytime to do a LEGAL search of your house. If they find anything that is in violation, you will be sent back.

My advice - do you really need the beer that badly? If you do, then you may want to check into AA.

I think if you are found in a bar it could be a problem. There was a problem that I know of. A guy who my BF and I know. He was going out partying and got a ride with some people. They were pulled over. They took his ID also and found he was in trouble and took him to jail because he was in trouble for a DWI he went and spent time in jail. Bars are sometimes searched and the ID all the people. If you are not supposed to be in a bar then do not go because they may search the bar and you will be in the sample. Then they will run your ID and you will be in the sample and go to jail. Unless you want to be violating your probation then you do not want to do that. Unless you want to go to jail do not ride in cars with people who have problems with or without your liscence because you will have guilt by association. You are already in trouble and you will not have benefit of the doubt. You have to be careful right now and do what your probation officer says. If you do not want to spend time in prision then do what they say. How important is alcohol to you? You will not get any in jail and you will have to give up so much more than that. How about going to get some help with these cravings it sounds like you really have a problem if you want to risk your freedom. The safe way to keep safe is to stay out of trouble. How about reading and living a clean life and then you will not have to worry about this. Do you know some people are so stupid to ask these quesions and have their real photo on here? Yeah there a police officers working 24/7 so you can get caught. Please do not send yourself to jail. It costs too much tax money to keep people caged up like animals for stupid stuff like this.

They can make a home visit anytime they choose to. You also have to submit to random testing as well. usually it is just thrown in there to get people to stay out of the bars andfrom being drunk in public. If you behave and don't cause drama you should be fine. But also if you are in a bar when other trouble happens and they run your name or take your name as a witness, you can still get in trouble.

Yes, they can come to your home at any time and test you and you will most likely be tested when you vistit your officer. The chances of them stoping over or calling you in are slight but it can happen. It is also illegal for you to have that beer in the fridge even if it is your roomates or others.

Yes, we do give random tests. Oh, and we can come to your place unannounced too. As long as the alcohol is in your home, you will be held accountable. Be smart. Anything other than that and your probation can and will be revoked therefore causing you some jail time.
