Think about it why else would they be so against homosexuality, genetic modification, abortion, stem cell research, evolution and science in general. Why would the want these things made illegal if they weren’t afraid of them?

I don't want homosexuality to be against the law, I just don't want them to be able to marry.
I'm definitely again abortion; that's murder of a defenseless child!
Stem cells from embryos have not produced any ground-breaking discoveries while stem cells from cord blood have! No reason to harvest unborn children!
Evolution isn't bad in itself, but schools shouldn't be teaching it as if it were a fact!
I'm not afraid of people who aren't Christian.

I think it is rather the abortionists who are afraid of people... they kill the new people before they can get born. And it is the people who do genetic modification who appear to be afraid of people as they are. Again,, it is the evolutionists who have the fear. I don't know where you come in saying Christians are afraid of science in general.

See, the main problem with this kind of question is that it lumps too many poeple into one box,, saying that they are all the same. Christians are not all the same, So the question is really not valid, since its very base is untrue.

If you wanted to ask why George is agaisnt stem cell research,, that would be more valid. by the way... did you know that there is stem cell reseaarch that can be done on cells other than embryonic cells,, so that nobody has to die to do it? umbilical cord stem cells are one source,, and you have stem cells in your body that can be harvested to help you if you ever need stem cells. The reason Christians, and some other religions too, want these things made illegal is actually because we consider life sacred,, we actually love people more. We don't want that unborn baby killed. Ummm.. I don't know why you are saying that Christians want science to be illegal??? *sighs* You sound like a reactionary... oh, well.. I know you are going to give some other reactionary the 'best answer'

I agree completely... All of these modern, liberal ideas are a threat to Christians who are afraid to confront the realities of today's world. They want to live in the past, when Christianity ruled supreme, when there was an easy answer for everything and those who disagreed with the Christian dogmas were burned as witches. This attitude continues to this day, although now they have a harder time acting on their murderous urges (although we still have anti-abortion terrorism).

Christians used to be afraid of the concept as simple as "the Earth is round".

A good christian never lets common sense and reason overcome ancient superstitions and metaphors....

Those things do not represent heaven or any aspect of the Bible...afraid....don't think so. We are protected by a King. Avoid it..you bet. We want to go to the Big House when we leave this earth and you should too. Science is fine...Science found PROOF of Jesus Christ and the Ark. I just, as most Christians, would rather believe the Bible than the alternative that great, great, great, great grandpa was a monkey.

No I am not, in fact, one of my best friends is not a christian. So I guess that ruins your whole christian paradigm.
To answer a couple of your alledged points...
stem cells - its no longer necessary, the umbilical cord is a far better source for such research.
Evolution - its as much a belief as creation, teach them side-by-side let the students decide. Oh, we can't do that evolution would lose.

We are against them not because we are afraid, but because it's against our beliefs. And before you stereotype, most Christians aren't against science. In fact, my good friend (who is a Christian) is a science teacher. Oh yeah, I forgot about my bio teacher and Chem I & Chem II teachers. They are Christians. Did you know that there are a lot of sciencists that convert to Christianity the deeper their knowledge of science becomes? We're not scared, it's just doesn't agree with the beliefs.

I'm not afraid of people who beat their children with boards, pots, pans, fists, or anything else they can get their hands on...

but I think that it should be illegal for them to do so... in order to protect those who cannot protect themselves...

I'm also not afraid of the other things you mention.

And, I don't think there should be laws against people smoking, drinking, etc... as long as they are of age... even though I don't believe that people should do these things...

we were given Free Will by God... it is your choice... but we need to protect those who cannot protect themselves... so you should not be allowed to smoke around children... or drive a car after drinking... etc.

Why would I be afraid of a non Christian??? Why would I want to kill babies and be a part of sexual perversion ??? You are either very young or very dumb as you have not thought this question through.. What if your mother aborted you, where would you be?? Do we kill little babies to experiment with their dead bodies?? Why don't you volunteer to be killed to do stem cell research, they can use your bodiy.

Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Rev 6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
