Because, he is aware of his badbreath, and in no way can he talk to other person except when the person he wanted to talked with is dying to listen to him, and that is through a secret! SAy, the badbreath person exclaimed: I HAVE A SECRET TO TELL...everybody will be eager to listen despite the foul odor since they are all after the secret to be revealed. Hmmmm..that's what I think!

I would suppose it would be to see your reaction. To determine if in fact the persons breath was really bad.
