Did you know that Jesus was a Jew? The thing is, Christianity really didn't start until Jesus ascended into Heaven. There would be no Christianity if Jews were never around. Basically without getting into a lot of detail, the Jews beleive in the Old Testament and the Christians believe in the Old and the New. The foundation of the early church were Jews and some Gentiles (non Jews). Back then in His day, the Jews were wainting for a king to deliver them from the Roman Empire. So when Jesus came saying that he was the king, they didn't believe Him because Jesus was delivering them from sin, not the Romans. Without Judeism, there would be no Christianity. Jesus is also called The Messiah, the King of Kings, the Alpha and Omega, the Son of God, the Son of Man...Oh, and one last thing. every Christian should be worshipping Jesus, it's not a "Catholic" thing. If you follow and love Christ, then you are called a Christian, literally translated as "Little Christ".

Pontius Pilot had an inscription written in three languages placed above Jesus when he was crucified. The sign said something to the effect of "Behold, The King of the Jews". Theologists aren't sure if this was to mock Jesus or if he was actually the King of the Jews. Jesus was, after all, the direct decendant of King David and King Solomen.
Ouch...If that were true that would mean the Jewish priests who had control of the jewish poplulation at the time would have to give up their power and control...and money. Screw that!!!
It's funny also, because according to the 10 Commandments, we are forbidden to have any gods before Him, and forbidden to make (or pray to) any graven images. Catholics pray to Jesus, The Virgin Mary, and to God...seems a bit off to me.

The title "King of the Jews" was given to Jesus by Pilate. My guess is that he wanted the Jewish leaders who turned Jesus over for death to feel that they were still directly involved in what Pilate believed to be the death of an innocent man.
In the early church (and I mean the first dozen years or so), there was no difference between those who followed Jesus and other Jews. After a while, it was clear that their beliefs (including that Jesus would come again in their lifetime and bring with him the End of Days) were not compatible with prevalent Jewish thought and they branched out.
You will find Jewish people today who will respect Jesus as a prophet or at least a man who taught good things, but he has no religious significance to them.

Jesus was never accepted as king of the jews. The Romans put that on a sign just to tick off the scribes and pharisees.
After the resurrection the Jews failed to accept the risen Christ, too, so God sent the apostles out to convert the gentiles, just as it was prophesied:
Mal 1:11 For from the rising of the sun even to the going down, my name is great among the Gentiles, and in every place there is sacrifice, and there is offered to my name a clean oblation: for my name is great among the Gentiles, saith the Lord of hosts.
The rest is history.
God said to the Jews:
Mat 21:43 Therefore I say to you that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and shall be given to a nation yielding the fruits thereof.
Then he said to the gentiles and his church:
1Pe 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a purchased people: that you may declare his virtues, who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
1Pe 2:10 Who in times past were not a people: but are now the people of God. Who had not obtained mercy: but now have obtained mercy.

Jesus is worshipped by all Christ"ian faiths because he is the savior (salvation) fortold of in the old testament.
I urge you to read the bible for yourself, not just the misslettes handed to you. You can read Genesis for the reason that you worship Jesus. Abraham is the father of all nations and Gentiles were allowed "adoption" into Abrahams seed just for believing in and worshipping all that God has done, all that he is doing , and all that he will yet do. That includes Jesus, (for this read the gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and for good measure read Acts.
As in all things pertaining to God, if what you have been taught is different than Gods word, go with Gods word.

Because Jesus is the Son of God, part of the Triune God - the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
If you read the New Testament - especially - Acts & Romans, it's in there about how the Apostles and Disciples are to go out among the Gentiles (non-Jewish) and proclaim the Good News.
Hope that helps you out - you should attend an RCIA class, get a refresher. They're really great classes and you'll get a renewed perspective on our faith.
God bless.

What are you saying? Yes, He is King. Jesus was Jewish. Those were the people worshipping God. He was also mocked as "King of the Jews." Jesus is Lord of all.

Jesus was a Jew. Christianity came from Judaism. The Jews that believed him became Christianity the Jews that didn't stayed Jewish. Its that simple.
Now just don't ask about Muslims as they came from Judaism and that's a really difficult story.

He is king of ALL in relation to WHO HE IS.
Philippians 2:10 - That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Revelation 17:14 - These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
