Find someplace that sells Garlic Yeast tablets. It's great for the dog's coat, and fleas can't stand it!

The one thing I've found that is very important is to also treat the yard. If he is going outside and you have any other animals that ever get in (and they do get in!), they will leave fleas in the yard. When it is hot like it has been this summer, they are worse, especially if you live in an area that doesn't have a good hard freeze. Check with the vet to be sure you are treating him with the correct dosage of Advantage; then get something like Vet Chem to treat the yard and house. It is very expensive, and you can only get it at a vet, but I had a German Shepard that was allergic to flea bites (yeah, I know, he was a wussy) and it was the only thing that helped. It was in a bottle with a black/white/red accent label, and to treat your yard (which I did once a year) you attach it to your hose, and spray like you would Miracle Grow. Used the same stuff in the house, and the bombs worked for at the very least, six months. They are kind of like any other infesting bug, though. If you have a lot of clutter or can't do a good job of vacuuming, you aren't going to be able to get rid of them. Good luck!

Get some Frontline Plus from your vet. Don't by off of Ebay, Pet Meds, etc...these are not genuine products. Frontline is proven to be more effective than Advantage. When you use the Frontline, don't give him a bath for 48 hours before or after the application, and if he's got a cloth or leather collar, remove it overnight if possible (the Frontline will wick into the collar otherwise). Also, don't use garlic...it can cause anemia in dogs. Be careful how frequently you're bathing him...too many baths can dry out his skin and make him itch more.

Your dog should get a bath on a regular basis first and should be getting a flea treatment once every month. Well since you said your already doing this...Does your dog go outside alot? Maybe your yard needs to be treated or you need to keep your dog indoors more. Does your dog have alot of fur? It may help to trim the fur from time to time. A flea collar may also be needed along with the treatment. Does your house have fleas? Im pretty sure it doesif you dog comes inside. Try getting your house treated. Next call the vet and see what else they suggest.

We brought our dog back from the vet today. She has fleas. You can buy a topical ointment called Frontline. You squeeze out a dose of it against the back of the neck. You don't have to run it in, just part the hair a little so it soaks into the skin. Over time it will work its way into the fatty tissue and get rid of the fleas. It is supposed to work better than Advantage.

If you want to get rid of them you need to have a professional get out to your house and do a heavy spray. It sounds as if you are pretty well infested. Get one that has a guarantee that if they come back in a certain time that they will do it again free of charge. When you give your dog its next bath let the soap set on him for about 5-10 minutes to suffocate the flees. Rinse him off. Give him a good flee dip. Wait a week before you put the advantage on him. After all of that you should be set to go. In the time you spend all the trouble of "bombing" your house you could have it done one time only and have less of a headache. It may cost a little more but it gets the job done. There is less time worrying and more time having fun.

Get some yard flea spray and do the yard first, then the house then the dog. Advantage dont work all that great. Revolution or Frontline are the best but they both only kill UP TO a month

Okay, this is what you must do no ifs ands or butts.
You have to go to your local pest control store...it's Do it yourself pest control".
Buy a bottle of Lindane and Pyrethrin.
Use the Lindane all outside with a bottle sprayer and cover the entire yard with it steps on the house and everything, but not indoors.
Tie your dog up to make sure it is dry first before letting him loose in the yard.
Lindane will kill everything to p[revent reinfestation of fleas.
Next thing you do is spray the Pyrethrin all over your dog behind the nech and ears and tail and make sure he is doused good and rub it in the hair good.
Pyrethrin has a strong risdual for lasting three weeks annd then some and it will kill ticks fleas and anything else on the dog. You will see results quickly and the problem will be solved.

i understand where you are coming from. that happened to my dogs a few years ago and come to find out the problem was in the yard. what i did was take the dogs to the vet. they gave them a bath and flea dip. then we put them on frontline, it's waterproof. then we bombed our house and had an exterminator come and spray the house and the yard. after that, the fleas were gone. good luck!

You need to deal with (a) any fleas that are currently living on your dog, and (b) any flea eggs that may be on your dog or in its sleeping quarters, etc. I would suggest using Revolution, Advantage and Frontline flea control products to deal with the immediate infestation, and either Program or Sentinel tablets to deal with flea lifecycle issues.
