You will be okay. Don't worry! Just think of all those poor 7th graders!! One good thing is that you will never have to be the "youngest" class in high school. Traditionally freshman get picked on because they are the youngest, but you get to pass that on to your 7th graders!
There will be lots of other kids your age who are in the same situation. The teachers will understand and help you. Don't be afraid to ask someone where something is! In no time you'll have the whole school memorized.
Also, maybe you can get ahold of a school map or diagram to see where everything is ahead of time, that way you'll have some idea of where you're going on your first day!

What you are feeling is normal. All of us have some level of anxiety when we make changes in our lives. High school seems more like a mysterious culture than a different school. In reality, it is just another school. You will continue to see some of the same people you saw at your school in past years. As an incoming freshman, you will not be the only one a little nervous. You do have an advantage that many incoming freshman do not have: since 7th and 8th grade students will attend the same school, you avoid being the “low man on the totem pole.” Look at this as an advantage since the lower grades automatically elevate you to higher status.
As a military brat, I changed schools so many times that it became second nature. The best way to handle the change is to remain cool and calm. Dress normally and do not try to stand out in any way. Try to find someone that shares a couple of classes in common with you and befriend them. Just having a friend should make the experience less stressful. Keep an eye out for the younger students, as this move is likely to create more havoc with them than it will with you.
Good luck!

This year I'm a freshman at highschool and my first day was pretty confusing. There was a day where you could take a tour of the school but I didn't go so the first day I was asking teachers where my classes were. High school does look a lot bigger when no one is in the hallways, but when the bell sounds for the moving of classes it gets really full. So, just don't be afraid to ask for directions it will really help. Then on the second day you will be more familiar to where the classes are.
Good Luck!!

dont worry about getting lost. people know that freshman are new to the school, they will be happy to help if you get lost. But you probably wont b/c they will tell you the room number of your classes, just follow the numbers. I had the same worry and i made it out alive. in fact, i didnt get lost once. its all right if the school is crowded--- more people to ask for directions! the main thing is, remember youre not the only freshman there, all your classmates will be having trouble too. and its not like the older students havent seen a freshman on their first day before. if you make a mistake, youll learn to laugh about it --- and you wont be the only one to mess up.

I actually started college today so I feel your pain...
well you can always ask for directions I am almost 18 and i was asking strangers for directions and they helped me out.
Everyone has been in your situation before, so dont have any worries.
The 7th graders will be even more worried than you! Plus you will have the advantage of not being the youngest.
High school is soooo much better than middle school. You have a lot more freedom... I was dreading going today for my classes but i realized that it was not very different from H.S!
well goodluck and im sure everything will be fine!
ps...
you can always ask the office for a map too! :)

it'll be okay. atleast you'll be older than somebody. and firstweek the teachers will be okay if your late if you got lost. and the first day just ask any adult if you're lost and they can direct you to the right place. it's not problem. i had to ask where a class room that already had class in freshman year was when i was a senior. it was funny. the rooms usually have numbers too so just pay attention like finding an address. and if you're really scared, you an get a map of the school from the school. good luck on your first day.

There is usually a system to find the rooms. At my school the basement has the double digit rooms, the first floor has the rooms numbered in the one hundreds, and the second floor has rooms numbered in the two hundreds. The science rooms and locker rooms are on the bottom floor, the language and computer rooms and gym are on the first floor, and the english, social studies, math and music rooms are on the top floor. Find a floor plan of your school somewhere and crack the code.
Teachers usually wait outside their classrooms for the first week to point you to where you need to go. They'd be happy to help, and if they aren't tell the principal to fire them. And they don't care if you get lost in the first week and are lost.
Also, if you can find a floor plan, draw your path to each of your classrooms and note where the bathrooms and lunch room, school store or any other helpful rooms. Keep a copy in each of your notebooks.

Give it one week. You for sure will get lost in the first, maybe second week, but by the third you will know that school like the back of your hand. Relax you will do fine. And if you do get lost do not be afraid to ask for help. People are there to help and other students are just as lost as you are. Hey you might be able to help someone else out and learn something. Good luck and have fun!

when I started highschool at a HUGE school I felt just like you do. my school was under construction so it felt crowded too. after about a week everything was fine. my sophomore year my school decided that te freshman came to school 1 day earlier than everyone else so their first day was a lot easier for them to find classes, maybe you could suggest that to your school. it wont happen this year, but it might help students younger than you! I know it would have helped me.

i understand that you must be scared to go into high school, but being scared is not un-natural at all. your probably feeling a little nervous about what to expect, but believe me, high school isn't all that~
i went to a h.s. that was suposed to be only 3,500 students, but when i got there, it was filled with 5000. then by the time i graduated in 4 years, there was 6000 students roaming around~ just take it easy, and enjoy it! just be you!
