Does each cat have his own box? That's what they're trying to tell you, that they hate peeing in someone else's box! The only other solution is to get rid of some of the cats. They're not pack animals and don't like to live in groups. They're trying to tell you how unhappy they are.

Cats require a very clean litter box, and some privacy. The litter box has to be in the same place all the time.
Perhaps you have too many cats, and not enough litter boxes. Try a privacy screen for cats, and keep the box out of people traffic ways as possible. Buy some of that urine neutralizing spray, and spray areas where they have been inappropriate in.
Hope this helps.

Every one is right on target here. A clean box for each cat. Cats are more like people than we realize. No body likes a nasty bathroom! And the litter makes a big difference. Some cats would rather have dirt from outside and some kitty litter that smells like roses (just a hypothetical).
Very seldom do cats like to share anything. Food bowls, litter boxes, people, etc...
So if you love your kitties, get them each their own bathroom. It will be a lot cheaper in the long run.
Cats are very independent.
Think about it.
Good luck!

It's the cat litter. Do you scoop it at least twice a day? Cats don't like using dirty cat litter. Also, you should actually have a separate litter box for each cat, though you can get away with one box for two cats. Whenever you catch them not using the cat box, pick them up, say, "NO!" and place them in the cat box. You may want to get that spray at your vets that is supposed to deter cats from going where ever they feel like.

Try having several litter boxes and use unscented litter. They may be just not wanting to share the litterbox. Get scoopable and keep it clean. Tidy cat has a litter out now that has a new blend out now that don't have that harse smell, it will have on the container, "New! Tidy Lock.". My cats seemed to really appreciate this new scent free stuff. It don't say unscented, it just is. Good luck. Have your cats been checked for worms? Don't listen to that girl who said to punish your cats by hitting them in the nose, this, even just a little can cause behavior problems, just try to correct the problem. I like what most said, a private area, and clean too. Keep your bedrooms shut, you don't want them to start going on the bed, and they might.

Get another box. I once had seven cats and had four litter boxes lined up in the garage. Half the garage was framed up and fenced with chicken wire. I fend the cats out there and their litter boxes were on the other side.
Social pressure will often cause cats to make pee and potty mistakes. Just HOW MANY do you have?

I clean my litter box out every day. I change the litter out every week. If I fail to do this (even for one day), one of my two cats lets me know by going in the same corner. Maybe your cats are the same.

Many cats won't share a box with other cats, plus with multiple cats the box gets dirty qucik and many cats won't use a dirty box. You need more boxes or fewer cats.

That's really hard to fix once the smell is there...
Get more & bigger litter boxes, and try putting them where they go most often. Cats are fussy--if the box is dirty, they won't use it!

how do you know that they don't have UTI's? if you never took them to the vet than you have no clue if they do if they don't. you never said that you have taken them to the vet yet. my advise to you is to take them all to the vet ASAP!!!! oh, and do you clean the litter boxes out regularly? how many cats and how many litter boxes do you have.
