My last day of work is Monday. I want to ask this guy that works in another dept. out. I don't know if he's interested. he might be or he might just have been, being friendly. He talk whenever we run into each other which has been for a 5-10 minutes at least once a week for the past 2 months...about himself, myself, but mostly about work (non task stuff)...just random work things...today was my last chance I think to ask him out...I went to his dept. to go talk to him and ask him out but I think he was out running errands so I stalled and I passed by again and I don't think he was there...I'm not sure...I don't know what to do...we've only talked when i ran into him or i had to pick up some documents from him or a check or something...I've never worked on a project with him, emailed him, or called his work extension ever...so I don't know what I can do...I want to do this!

Think of it this way to get yourself motivated: will you regret not doing anything for the rest of your life? Or would you rather risk a possible let down from someone you may never see again?

Call him at work and ask him to a concert or movie or something. Here's your line:
"Hi, how are you?" [answer]. "Did you know I left the company?" [answer]. "I'm sorry, I wanted to tell you but things happened pretty quickly my last day." [answer]. "I kind of miss running into you in the halls and was wondering if you'd like to meet me sometime."
Smile and stand up while you are talking, it improves your delivery.

Well, just ask him out! You can do it by email or phone if you are really shy. You have not lost your chance! Get someone at work to give you his phone number at work, and his email address.

ring his extension and when he answers say "Sorry, I've just dialled the wrong number." Then say "Who did you say I've rung? I'm familiar with most of the hunky sounding voices in this building but yours is a new one" and listen to his reaction. Take it from there.

Say something like... " Forgive me if this is too forward but maybe we can get together and grab a drink sometime, have a conversation that DOESN'T have to to do with work "

Just do it, and say you want to go out for drinks. He'll know.
