We've been there almost a week - she didn't pee for 3 days, then waited another few before she did again. She's only pooped twice - she was daily before. Yesterday we were in our old neighborhood and she peed 4 times and pooped, so it's not that she can't, she just won't. I am getting stressed about it because she's home & I don't want to come back to urine all over the house.

We've been there about 10 days. She didn't pee for 3 days and then waited a few more days before she did it again. She's only pooped twice. Before the move she went throughout the day regularly. Yesterday we were in our old neighbor and she peed 4 times and also pooped a few times too. Obviously it's not that she can't go, she just won't. I don't know how to help her, but she looks so uncomfortable and stressed out. She keeps whining and the whole thing is starting to stress me out too.

I have been taking her out for short, and long walks, repeatedly throughout the day and night - any time she indicates she has to go - probably 12 times a day and again at 2 am, 4:30 am, and 6 am. I let her sniff and give her space and don't watch her because she's self conscious.

I had the same problem when we moved 9 months. My litte dog would not go. I took her to our vet. She told me that she was scared I was going to leave her. She was a rescue pup. She told me to go out with her every couple of hours and stay with her until she went. She has finally got comfortable. You will have to have patience....patience....and more patience. Good Luck!

Take treats out to where you want her to "go". When she does go, mark the behavior with a treat and letting her know she's a "good girl" with pets and loves. Continue this until she is more at ease and can do it without your help. My puppy will only go at home and this wreaks havoc on my weekend schedule. I try to take my dogs where ever I can. The pup is miserable until we get home but he is SLOWLY learning it's OK. I think it may be that they have worked so hard to not go in the house/they MUST go in the yard that when we make a change, they need to basically get potty trained all over again. She knows she can't go in the house but what's left for her? She needs to be taught it's OK to go in the new yard. It's HER yard.

Maybe you could go outside and spend some time with her. Talk to her, pet her, play with her. Do whatever it is you normally do when you're relaxing with her. It may help her to get accustomed to her new yard if she can just calmy be out there with no agenda (as far as she knows). Take a slow walk around the yard. She may follow you and take an opportunity to explore and become familiar with the place (maybe even come to a realization that it is your yard, and by extension, hers).
I wish you the best of luck. I know it's hard when your doggie baby's in distress.

My dog did the same thing. She held it for 4 days when we came to look at houses, until we got back home. When we moved, same thing. It got better as we started to unpack, but when my husband decided to pee in the yard she decided it must be o.k. Now the yard was marked territory! Daddy marked it, so did she. Make sure to spend some quality time with your dog right now. Moving is very stressful to our fur-children. She'll be o.k. when she figures it out.
