A fundamental Christian, at a minimum, believes the following to be true:

1. The Inspiration, Authority, and Sufficiency of the Scriptures;
2. The Existence of One God in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;
3. The Creation of the Human Race in the Image of God;
4. The Fall and Resultant Human Depravity;
5. The Deity of Christ, His Incarnation, Atoning Death, and Resurrection;
6. Salvation by the Grace of God through Faith by the Power of the Holy Spirit;
7. One Holy Christian Church, the Body of Christ;
8. The Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the Consummation of All Things.

Hope that helps!

A fundamentalist Christian often believes that the Bible is literal and fully inspired by God. Fundamentalism is a theological position within Christianity that often stresses the truthfulness of the Bible and individual salvation. In addition to theological (belief) differences, fundamentalist Christians are often politically and socially conservative. The wikipedia article goes into depth on the issue and is a good source of information.

The same as any religious person, someone who suffers from mental illness. Science can prove that quite easily, it’s just that many religious people refuse to believe the facts.

Scientists will soon explain why some people are religious and believe in God, and why there’s so much trouble caused in the world by religion. Scientists have already shown that some people carry a "warrior" gene that makes them more prone to violence and criminal acts.

Some people are genetically predisposed to violence and criminal acts, and I believe scientists have also found that some people are genetically predisposed to religious or spiritual acts, but have yet to publish their full findings to avoid a public uproar.

Scientists may well discover that people who are predisposed to the “religious or spiritual” gene are probably more likely to also be predisposed to the “warrior” gene, which would ultimately cause these people to have religious conflicts like crusades and wars. It is already a well known fact that religion is responsible for the majority of wars, conflict and murder of innocent life since humanity began.

Religious people do not understand the question “why” and so God, Religion, the Bible, or whatever, takes over and controls their mind. The trouble with this solution, unlike science, is that anything can be twisted into whatever you wish to believe and therefore is always right. Sadly to say, that’s irrational thought.

However, there must be a rational explanation why religious people act in such an irrational manner, and I think scientists will prove in the near future that it’s all a function of genetic disposition.

basically someone who believes that the bible is literally true (ie, the world created in 6 days, Noah and the ark etc) as opposed to people who think it is allegorical, or those of us who think it is entirely fiction.

A Christian, very simply, is a person who has decided to be a follower of Jesus Christ. As you may know, Jesus lived in the Middle East about 2,000 years ago, and after preaching and teaching for about three years, He was put on trial and executed by His enemies. The Bible (our source of information about Jesus) tells us that three days later He came back to life by the power of God, and was taken up into Heaven. Someday He will return to conquer evil and rule over everything in perfect justice and love.

What sets Jesus apart from every other religious leader or philosopher? Simply this: The Bible says He was God in human flesh—completely man, but also completely God. He came to earth for one reason: to reconcile us to God. Sin had separated us from God, but Jesus (who was without sin) took all our sins upon Himself, and He died in our place.

Why did He do this? The Bible says the reason is because God loves us, and He wants us to be with Him in Heaven forever. It says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). I pray that someday soon you too will become Jesus' follower, by giving your life to Him
