I want to get rid of my shaggy pecs! Please help me.

Curls target your biceps not your chest though your chest is involved a little. If you want to build a better chest you're going to need to do bench press and flys (bench or pec deck machine). Try to target more areas of your chest to with incline/decline bench press as well.

Barbell curls will only work pecs to the degree you're NOT isolating your arms during the curl.

Shaggy pecs (if I understand what you mean) are a result of two things:

1) Too much body fat
2) Poor pectoral muscle tone

Aerobic exercise will deal with #1, and bench presses, dumbbell presses, and inclined / declined presses will deal with #2.

Curls do not. Inclined bench press with dumbells (2 short bars) instead of a barbell (benchpress bar) will improve the chest greatly, especially the hard to hit top part of the pectorals.

Curls are for biceps. You want to do bench presses.

bench press and flys are best for Chest.
Curls work almost exclusively the biceps

Type into your search engine "bodyforlife" and look at their exercises for chest, I think you'll like the demos.
