Depends on the parents. Some mothers (regardless to what people say about women being better communicators) are terrible communicators and are totally disconnected from their kids. Some women are great and their kids listen to them, while their fathers have no communication abilities at all. So it depends.

I agree with the mother being the nurturer and father the disciplinary answer.
It also could be the tone of voice and the dominance factors. I try to lower my tone when Im upset.
My daughter doesnt listen to either of us.. but always says Im her best friend and her father isnt mentioned. I guess that would go with her being five.
That could be because I have always been with her and her father comes in and out of her life, which Im trying to steady more and more every day.. although there is only so much I can do..

In typical cases, boys are gonna have a stronger connection to the father given that their mental and body chemistry are exactly the same. I say typical cases because I'm assuming that the father-son relationship is healthy. In other cases, the boys may have a stronger connection with the mother. I guess it depends on the health of the parent-child bond. I'd think that a similar scenario would apply for girls.

My Mom was always more frightening to me.
I guess because I was always "Daddy's little girl"
But when my dad raised his voice (like twice in my life)
Everybody listened. It really depends on Mom & Dad's
tollerence level. My mom was a housewife with a very low tolorance to misbehavior. She always fallowed through with the consequencis immidietly if what she said wasn't obeyed that very time. So needless to say, my sister & I
were very good kids. If you're noticing misbehavior you've got to nip it in th bud. Everytime. The problem is Mom's don't want to be the bad guy. Or they get to tired & or lazy to follow up that bark with a bite. I love my mom, even though she was rough when we got out of line, I'm glad she was. We alway have been best friends. Now that I don't live with her anymore, it's even better. If you're "all talk" the child will know it & therefore take advantage of you as he or she pleases. The temper tantums & wineing will turn into attitude problems & then you'll have to pray to Jesus for your daughter or son's deliverence or consider military school if you want anything good to come out of your offspring.

Lower voice octive. Also, mothers are usually there 24/7 and kids tend to shut them out while fathers time around the kids is less and the kids are uncertain if they can challenge him without severe consequences.

Women were made to nurture. Men on the other hand generally have a different personality that is not like that of a woman. Personally I vowed to NEVER say "just wait until your father comes home." My kids choose to listen to me because they do not like the consequences when they do not listen. Depends on the parents I guess.

Generally the mother gives the comfort (like when you fall over or are sick) the father gives the punishment, I'm sure you've heard the phrase from mums "wait till your father gets home"

Probably because Dads usually have deeper voices than moms. They sound more intimidating. AND... kids usually see moms more hours in the day so they (the kids) get more relaxed about the rules or chores.
