im a freshman and i just started high school today. theres this guy who sits behind me in history and we've talked a little. mostly about the bands we listen too and stuff. he seems like a nice guy but im not really sure where to go from here?

Just keep chatting. You don't need to get attached from day one. Take your time (at least a day) and see how things go. If you're clicking, then see what happens. He may ask you out, or you might ask and see if he wants to study or grab a soda after school, etc.
Just have fun and go with it!
