I received a obvious re-gifted item.
It was one of those white lacy-frilly-puffy photo albums.
The sticky pages inside were yellowed. I investigated the item further and on the inside pocket of the photo album- I found a book of wedding matches-from someone else's wedding about 10 years prior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I WAS MORTIFIED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been married almost 28 years! We got this very grotesque painting on a wood plank of a little boy with long gold curls, dressed in navy shorts and jacket. the boy was in profile holding a bird perched on his outstretched finger. Because we couldn't figure out where the painting came from so we could exchange it for something we could use, we used it to stoke our fireplace. We also got a green frosted cordial set that became a white elephant gift at our annual family holiday get together.

When I got married the first time I received a set of used steak knives that you could tell they had been used. The person who gave them to us was my husbands aunt who is very well off.
My husband just reminded me that when he and I got married we received a half bottle of rum. Apparently someone had already had a nip before the wedding then stuck it back in the gift bag.

We also received a gift that we didn't like as well. We received a faded clock. It was suppose to be silver (I guess). We chose to donate it to salvation army. My thing is if the guest/family or friend can't afford or choose not to purchase from the couple's registry save yourself time and embarrassment and buy a card.

A bowl with fruit in it carved from monkey pods. Monkey pod decorative items were very popular (unless you got stuck with one) in the 70's. My best friend from childhood actually stuck us with this fibrous bowl with some round things that were supposed to be fruit for a wedding gift. It was hideous.
I kept it and sent her a thank you card.

I had registered for gray and purple towels and someone got me one set of navy blue ones that I think came from the $0.99 store. I was not quite sure what inspired that, but they came in handy to bathe the cat later on.

Girl..........Anything that I didn't like, didn't want, was old, etc., I donated to Goodwill for a tax write-off. One of the items, I sent to my husbands cousin when she got married. There was nothing wrong with the mixer that I sent her, it just didn't match my other appliances and I already had one.

My husband & I requested no gifts, it's like begging. Incidentally we are not wealthy. Please remember that maybe some folk cannot afford to buy gifts, don't be so selfish and ungrateful.
