Anything that comes directly from plants has fiber. Fresh fruits and vegetables are great for fiber, also beans, nuts and seeds. You can get plain oat bran at the grocery store or whole foods store. It makes a delicious hot cereal. Throw in some sliced almonds, chopped fruit and soymilk, and you have a filling, high fiber, high protein breakfast. If you don't care for oat bran, try real rolled oats (not processed oatmeal) with a couple tablespoons of flaxseed mixed in.

hot cereals cooked on your own stove such as
rolled oats
oat bran*
wheat germ
multi-grain cereals

* = can be quickly microwaved

Except for oat bran, the cereals should take AT LEAST 8 MINUTES TO COOK. If it can be cooked in 1 or 5 minutes, it isn't high in fiber!

Use raisons, but up bananas, berries or apple slices for variety. Pour WATER into the cooked hot cereal and then add powdered milk to get fat-free very high protein food in with the fiber --and when it's hot, it doesn't have that awful, thin, nonfat-milk taste to it.

Have a salad for lunch or microwave some oat bran.

FRESH vegetables and fruits are loaded with fiber! Also whole grains. Look for breads that are "lumpy" as my kids would say. Eat lean meats. The closer you stay to the "garden", the better it is for you! Don't forget to eat a protein with a carbohydrate, because they work together.
