Anything not new. Seriously, look for one in good mechanical shape, but with a few "parking lot" dents and scratches.
As a new driver, you'll dent it, scratch it, swap paint with a few inanimate objects, and you won't fees so bad if it is already dinged.
For my two daughters, I got them a couple of full size "boats." Virtually indestructable. I got them in pretty much the condition I described in the first paragraph. When they started to complain about how ugly the cars were, I suggested they start saving up until they could afford a "pretty" one.

My answer is a Saturn. They are a good price. Good on gas. They are mostly plastic so they will not ding up. I have had two in the ten years without a real bit of trouble.

one that is financed. So, you can get on your way to good credit. Buy something inexpensive, but reliable. I prefer Chevy, but thats me. My point is to get a car that you can make payments on and start our credit building. Stay away from all the extras. But, dont make your car so empty that you won't enjoy driving it.
