Then Indianapolis is the one that has made all the stories...but I am sure every ship that sank had some loss of life do to sharks.....The Indianapolis is the one where about half the survivors died before rescued

The USS Indianapolis is the ship that lost 1/3 of it's crew to sharks, 1/3 were killed from the torpedo(s), and the remaining simply drowned or were rescued.
On it's previous mission, the Indianapolis transported the two a-bombs that were dropped on Japan, from Pearl Harbor to the island of Tinian, where the B-26's took off from to complete the mission.
If there is another shark story nearly as grizzly and morbid as that of the USS Indianapolis, I sure haven't heard it, and I lived through that entire war.

The USS Indianapolis is the famous one, but I'm certain that many more ships were sunk in shark infested waters in WW2. I don't know what sites you need to search to find this veteran's ship, but I'm sure people here can give you some ideas.

I met a survivor of the Indianapolis at the VA hospital in Chicago, I definitely had to shake that sailor's hand and thank him for his service to this country! He was there for routine blood work and gives lectures to school children regularly.

The Indianapolis(she was torpedoed),they made a film about that(the mission of the shark)and it was quite horrific really because they were torpedoed and then they must of thought that's it we are going to be saved but they were eaten by sharks.
