Just imagine if Yahoo Answers was the start to removing religion from our world once and for all. Have you noticed that many of the savage venomous religious posters have already left the scene, beaten back by intellectuals and science. That's truly good news.

Credit to all of the non-believers who have gone to obvious lengths to show everyone how ridiculous and fake God, Religion, the Bible etc, all are in a modern world.

Just imagine the world becoming a happier and more peaceful place because religion has been banned from public viewing and discussion, and religious people have scurried away, defeated by common sense, logic, knowledge, intelligence, the internet and science.

Credit to our younger generation for seeing through this religious charade. Stand up and be counted. Say no more to religion, get it off our streets.

Certainly your optimism is inspirational, but I haven't noticed much diminution of inappropriate religious replies. I mean, if I asked how to pull a carburetor out of an '82 Ford, I'm sure I'll get somebody that will advocate the power of prayer or something equally inane. Here's an example from just today: Question - "Do you believe in reincarnation?" Answer - "No, that's a myth. You either go to heaven or hell when you die." I still haven't stopped laughing over that one. But, yes, stand up and be counted, I agree.

I really like what Sam Harris has to say on this subject. In his book, "The End of Faith", "Harris offers a vivid historical tour of mankind's willingness to suspend reason in favor of religious beliefs, even when those beliefs are used to justify harmful behavior and sometimes heinous crimes. He asserts that in the shadow of weapons of mass destruction, we can no longer tolerate views that pit one true god against another. Most controversially, he argues that we cannot afford moderate lip service to religion—an accommodation that only blinds us to the real perils of fundamentalism."

I don't think religion is going away. I just think people are learning to be more respectful and quiet when it comes to religion.

Religion will always be around. Religion is just believing in things that can not be proven by science. I think that there will always be things that science can not prove.

I do not believe the world will be happier place if there were no religion. Religion gives people something to believe in. They believe that there is something greater than cold scientific facts. They can hope that a power greater than themselves will make their lives better, whether it be this life or the next.

There have been many terrible things done in the name of religion (look at the Middle East, the Crusades, Nazism). There has also been many good things done in the name of religion. Some of the greatest works of art were done in the name of religion. Many charities are religiously based. As mentioned earlier religion helps many people cope with the problems that they face.

Science sometimes gets it wrong to as I learned from a book called, "State of Fear." The author talked about eugenics.

My main ideas I want to get across is that, first religion will never go away because we will never have all the answers and second, just because religion has been abused and will continue to be abused by bad people it is not bad to have religious beliefs.

I personally do not support any single religion whole-heartedly, though I was raised Christian.

While we realize that many things done in the name of religion is wrong from the pagan holidays to the political traditions of Thanksgiving to Labor day.
Many things such as the accumulation of wealth in the big religious organizations and backing political parties.
Sanctioning war, while saying don't kill. when you see things wrong with USA or Religion do you throw it out but look for one that has thrown out all those things. One that has stood up to the truth. Exposed the lies and cleaned up the organization.
The religious leaders today are no different than the ones in Jesus day. Hypocrites. who only want an easy high paying job.

Oh,Dear Brenda... as much as I do not agree with most religious dogma, I am a spiritual person who knows Who I Really Am, which is not of human nature, but of God/Goddess essence--a spirit entity with a Home to return to after I have finished my travels here.

I am a lover of knowledge, seek it daily...common sense is mine, as are logic, intelligence, many sciences, and I love the Inet...it is all fuels & tools for the purposes I chose upon coming here...

I am also glad to know that no matter what you believe in now, you will, in some lifetime, know better...Good Journey!

Sorry charlie
have to disagree with you.
ITS PEOPLE not religion that are the problem.
If we go by that thinking lets ban science than, because scientists created the atom bomb which destroys people.
Here is another one, lets ban food scientists because they are creating chemicals that cause cancer.
OH WELL, your solution has some holes to plug.
God Bless

Freedom of religion is apparently a dead line in the Bill of Rights.

Are you aware that in countries where Christianity at least has been persecuted, it has the fastest growth?

We aren't going anywhere. Good for you, too. You don't have to agree. But I find it interesting how religious people are constantly being attacked for their intolerance. Hmmm...

Well, I am a person of faith and I certainly haven't "gone". I think you proclaim victory too early. And I'm happy to debate with you anytime about science vs religion. Science doesn't know everything - in fact it knows precious little.

it's not the religious people we need to be afraid of they are already too scared about after life and are into praying to their whatever god
its the people with half knowledge about their religion that make this world what it is now

I think you are mistaken about them being beaten back...

they just realize that you are not seeking knowledge or understanding and so they have moved on to places where people need help...

I will knock on your door... and talk of Jesus...

I am weak... so I will knock only once and if you reject Jesus then I will not come back...

I will pray for you and pray that someone else may bring the Holy Spirit to your soul before it is too late.
