It seems like the people that believe in an afterlife are causing the violence.

I believe if people were less certain about the afterlife, they'd work harder toward peaceful solutions. If you know you only have one shot at life, wouldn't you want to live in a world of peace and prosperity? Why put up with suffering and crap thinking the "afterlife" will be better? Doesn't the song go, "Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens"? What kind of a life is that to look forward to?

I have to agree with you about the people involved in the current conflicts. Their views are responsible for the destruction of the Earth because all they want to think about is how great life will be when they're dead...and where is their proof of THAT?

People that don't believe in an afterlife also cause violence. Plenty of criminals are atheists.

The problem is that people fight about the wrong thing. If they would stop thinking about themselves and start thinking about others, they would find peace on earth.

It's a shame that something this simple is so lost in books, theories, agendas and idealisms.

Man from his conception was never taught to have peace, he was violent before the bible was written and he was violent when the bible was written and he is still violent towards his fellow man, each and every human being has to find peace in his own heart before there can peace in the world it has nothing to do with afterlife.

I think that people who do not believe in an afterlife are more genuine in their actions. They are not being "good" for some cosmic award or fear of punishment; they are behaving because it is the right thing to do!

If people believed in the current life of others as part of their own life (having lived as, living as currently, and one day to be lived as) then a society would understand any harm done to anyone is a harm done to one else. What if we have to live each and every life that has been alive, is alive, and will be alive, how sad would war be, how horrible poverty, how amazingly a miracle would we realize love to be?

No because you get people believing in different afterlives and then that's when you get trouble. We should just get rid of this whole outdated religion thing and move on. Say no to jesus

That's an awfully generalized statement. Violence is caused by fear. Not belief. Fear that they are wrong. Fear that they are misunderstood. Fear that they will be taken advantage of.
