McWaller - Pronunciation.

What are the possible variants of this and are any of them of Welsh origin?!

Scottish names beginning with Mc or Mac mean son of.

So McWaller means 'son of Waller'.

The name Waller is likely to be a derivation of the name 'Walker', a scottish clan.

Walker was the English equivalent of the Gaelic Mac-an-fhucadair, "Son of the fuller" . A fuller is someone who is involved in the production of cloth.

So the most likely origin is scotland, and the spellings would be mcwaller and macwaller.

A large number of scots went to Northern Ireland because of religious persecution and there is an area there called walkerstown, so the origin could also be traced to belfast.
