Why do people say when they have had a good sleep that they have slept like a baby but babys wake up at night?

Their hearing is not as acute as an adults, so if a firecracker were to go off next to their window, it wouldn't scare them awake. The reason for this is that if they heard every little noise, they wouldn't be able to handle all of the stress that comes along with the noise and they wouldn't get the amount of sleep they need in order for their brains to develop properly. Somewhere by the age of two, they have full, adult hearing.

What does wake them up is their empty bellies or their full diapers.
