I see only the ugly side of Christianity and Christians, I'm not sure there's a pretty side...it's difficult to see anything positive about people who are following a fake antique middle-eastern export religion and trying to drag the world back to a medieval mindset.

Oh.
Good.

I thought it was just me...

I really try and see the best in people, irrespective of their religion. But recently I've found myself increasingly just wanting to slap people and say "Just BECAUSE, OK?!"
Doesn't work of course - that kind of answer is exactly the sort of thing that makes my hackles stand up and samba.
A lot of Christians advocate the idea of "love the sinner, hate the sin." Sounds a bit mad to me, but maybe we should give it a go, man - "love the human, hate the religion". Whatever religious viewpoint people have, they're still people, who love and row and have breakfast and get stuck in traffic. They're just trying to get through, the same as the rest of us. How 'bout we try and focus on that for a bit, and come back to the battle for enlightenment when we're feeling revitalised?

If people had as you say a "medieval" mindset I for one would think we would be better off.

You should not judge the contents or truths of a thing by the way ppl who profess these truths act then you would dissapionted, no matter what.

Judge things by their own worth.

PS Christians can be just as stupid, assholes and jerks as anyone else.

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God." John 3:18-20

If you spend any more time dialoguing with Christians here in Yahoo answers, you might never see Christianity for what it really is.

sorry so many of my brothers and sisters have turned you off.

What a tragedy that so many Christians judge others right out of the reach of having faith.

You do not have to like us, but "drag the world back to a medieval mindset"? I am not sure what you mean about this. I believe in Christ, but do not advocate going back to pulling water out of a well and scraping out a living.

I guess you're not meeting the people I've met here. A very few are truly precious for their generous spirit.

Perhaps it's time to take a break, come back with fresh eyes and look for those who are truly Christian, rather than those who wear the t-shirt.

Peace.

Yeah I know. I am a Christian and after being on this board it makes me pretty sad to call myself one. Because, I feel like I'm lining myself up with the whackos out there!! Errghh.

You're having exceptionally bad luck. Try to look for and find the good side of Christianity.

Don't give in to the tempation to take up prejudice. They're just trying to make sense of the world in the best way they can. The only thing to do is prevent them for dictating to the rest of us how to live.
