Yeah, this is a big problem just before the start of NFL and College football. I would like to fix it, but the way these repairmen are, The fix would be stable for two years then bam, the problem reamerges. I've had my other TV's repaired, those repair guys suck.

The picture appears to wide for the screen and double letters show at the bottom, the image is narrow at the middle and wider at the edges.

Your convergence circuit has failed. Many times it's the power-supply for the convergence output stage. If this is a PTK195 chassis (the chassis # is on the back near the model #), then the board is no longer available, but any authorized repair facility can easily repair your board for about $300-$400.

dont bash the repairman for you buying crap. RCA always made garbage. you should be exstatic if you get 2 years out of a repair, you will be hardpressed to find a BRAND NEW set that has a warrenty past 1 year without paying for it. That RCA of yours needs new convergence IC's from what you described. If you want to blame anyone for bad repairs, blame the manufactures of these pieces of junk with their junk replacement parts, and RCAs are the worst of the worst. I would say when i order a new Flyback transformer the OEM part is likely to be 2 times out of 5 defective right out of the box.

Our 'former' big screen had been repaired and it never was the same. I think once they have a major picture issue, time for a new one. We spent over $900. on repairs. We could have used that money on the new tv we ended up buying anyway. plus, our tv was in the shop for over a month. and they could not find anything wrong. The longer they had it and tinkered with it, the more it cost us. Save your repair $, and put it into a new one.
