as far as i am concerned both have high religious moral values and dress and are best amongst our believing women. Yet one can walk the streets and be treated with respect, yet the other, will be taunted and harassed. why is there so much disparity in the way we treat these two kind of women?

Because the people who view them differently are looking a the religion of Islam that they do not understand.
Instead they should look at both women based on their piety

I've known more Muslim women than nuns, and I did treat the nun differently because she was 70, and the Muslims I know are all in their 20s. It was an age thing for me, not a religious one. (Neither are my religion.) I think I just made sure I spoke clearer to the elderly woman.
I suppose many people are just prejudice and don't see the similarities amongst themselves. They should think that these women are people all the same and be respectful!

I have never seen Muslim women being disrespcted in the west. However in some eastern muslim countries...like Saudi Arabia, woe to the woman who dares to walk alone in the streets...whether she be a nun or a Muslim.

Interesting. It is also interesting to note that Americans are the first to claim how poorly Muslem men treat their women. but are comfortable with the public abuse of these same women.
