Make his day full of exercise and elimination. He should be too tired (and empty) to do anything until the next morning.

It depends how old puppy is. Try the steps below, eventually as puppy matures and is house trained, stopping in the night will also follow. I would expect pup to be at least 4-5 months of age though before he is able to keep it all night.

House training my New Puppy
Often asked question, the one thing every new pup owner dreads

Things you need to know first, before you start.
Pups normally arrive to their new home when they are between 8-10 weeks of age. Unfortunately they do not have full bladder control at this age, it is physically impossible for your pup to hold onto it. When he has to go, he will go. How long do I wait then you ask? Well you don't, you start to teach as soon as pup arrives, but you don't expect too much, or the impossible.

By 12 weeks his body has matured and bladder control finally kicks in. Even so, the max amount of time he can hold it for will be between 2-4 hours.

1. Pick a spot outside where you intend for pup to go.

2. Every time you take pup out use the same spot.

3. Take pup out as often as every hour for the first week.

4. Take pup out after every feed, drink, exercise, play time.

Even if pup doesn't go, that's fine, just wait with pup for a few minutes, if you get a result then give heaps and heaps of praise.
Be consistant, don't give up and never rub pups nose in his excrements if he does do it inside, all you will do is confuse the pup and possibly turn him against you.

the hands down BEST way to do this is to crate train him..... dogs naturally won't eliminate where they sleep.
This also gives him his own safe space.
He may whine and cry for the first week, and make you crazy, but it is well worth it!

Do not give him any food or water in the crate, just a soft blanket, or old towel with your scent on it.
Also for 30-45 min before you are going to put him in there... dogs naturally have to "go" about 30 min after they eat.
when you put him in there, give him a rawhide, or a pigs ear, something to keep him occupied, and another great treat, the "Kong" chew toy, i get mine at petsmart.... its a chewy rubber toy that you stuff with a treat, like peanut butter, dogs go NUTS for it, it will keep him busy, and keep him from whining so much. and he won't see the kennel as a punishment if he is rewarded with a treat.

Hope I was help full.

Stop food and water a couple of hours before bed time. Before you go to bed take your puppy out to go potty. It may take some time, walk him around. If he goes, give him a treat and say good boy. Only give treats for GOOD behavior. Do not reward bad behavior. If he goes potty in the house at night, say NO! and take him right outside. Rubbing his nose in it does not do anything but make them scared. YOU have to get up and take him out at night as well. The rule for bathroom control as I understand it is one hour for every month of age. But you have to be consistent, You need to take him out at least 1/2 to an hour after he eats cuz by then he'll have to potty. Like I said only reward GOOD behaviior.

Mine stopped at about four months of age. I started bringing her into the bed with me (which you may not want to do), but it stopped her from messing because she didn't want to soil my bed. The most important thing for me was to take her out immediately before going to bed (even if she didn't always have to do anything), and then take her out again first thing in the morning.

ohh such a sad little question, do you "eliminating" in the middle of the nite? nature call in nature call. guess you could cut off all water supply at 12 noon, but that would be so cruel

you have to walk him right before bed and take the water and food away from him two hours before to put him to bed, also if you put him in a kennel cab at night it works really well, most dogs don't like to go where they sleep.

You can't but you have to set your alarm to take pup out to do buisness outside otherwise house training is harder.
