that depends on if you want to give up any hopes of achieving anything in life. if you want to end up being lazy and dispised by over half the population who work hard to pay jobseekers allowence then yes, stay on the dole.

Sorry to hear you lost your job. I've been there and it isn't a nice place to be. I would say that anything is better than the dole, to keep your pride, your sense of self. Even if it means working as a cleaner in the morning and an usher or waiter in the evening to make ends meet.

You do not say which job you were in, but you cannot let this get you down. Use the time to work out what you ARE good at - what are your strengths - and concentrate on those. What were you good at when you were at school? What did you like doing when you were at home?
For example, if it was playing computer games, is there a game shop and are they hiring? If not, keep going in there, prove you are serious.
What are your weaknesses? How can you minimise them? For example, if you are not good at English grammer :-) then can you spend some time at the library and catch up?

If you want to get, and keep, a job, you have to prove you are better than the rest when push comes to shove. The only way you can do that is be the best as you can.

Above all, smiles are free, give one away today! First impressions count at interviews.
Good luck!

I find that rather hard to believe. It would be more believable had you said you were not offered a job because the posts were filled by workers on the cheap.

If your contract was for a temporary period of time say 13 weeks to 26 weeks, than your contract simply came to an end. Sometimes if you work well and you reach all the targets early you can find yourself out of a job, but your employer should still pay your wages for the full term of your contract.

Had you been a long term employee say three years in duration and full or part time, had you received any verbal warnings about the quality of workmanship? What about a written warning about a similar issue? Have you at any point been asked to attend an informal grievance meeting with a colleague as a witness, to discuss quality of work or any breach in contract? If you have been a model employee and you have worked with this firm for three years or more, were you one of many whose contracts had changed and as such the work had ended?

A litte redundancy could be due here in this instance, if not and you have been with this firm for three years and you have been singled out and fired, I suggest you speak with a union rep or a legal adviser about unfair dismissal.

Whatever you do, don't sit around on the dole. That will destroy you. Good luck in your job search.

wow! sorry that really sucks! and this big political issue will not go away. U gotta keep fighting and look for new ways and directions, that's what i did when the government brought in new European regs that stopped my work. Try and think of a new direction, train to be an electrician, plumber, web designer anything is better than being on Job Seekers Allowance, (there is no dole now) they pressure u back into work after a few months anyway. Good Luck.

Next time the general election comes up remember not to vote Labour because its them b*stards who have cost you your job! Instead vote for the BNP who are the only party to dare question the amount of immigration in this country and the the only ones who would put a complete stop to it.

Dont stay on the dole either, get back in a job asap. The only one who will be losing out will be you, in the pocket. The government couldnt give a flying f**k whether you work or not because the only people they care about are themsleves and anyone whos not British!

Under the Law - your employer cannot make you redundant in order to employ someone else to do the same job. If you have evidence of this you can take your fight to a tribunal. Employers still have to pay NMW no matter where you are from so there is no benefit for them in doing this. Unless of course this was a cash in hand pay your own tax affair which is a 20 year prison sentence. The narrow minded in our community may think that the answer is to vote BNP and I will be the first to agree that the main parties do not seem to take the issue seriously - hiding behing the pointing finger of racism - the way forward is to press for a proper debate rather than hand power to a bunch of fascist fanatics.

I know the script of that one mate,
I'm from Scotland too, our employers are bringing these lads in from recruitment agency's for a fraction of the cost and filling up the manual labour market with no hesitation.

I work in a Cumbernauld warehouse and if any of the lads that have been there for a while step out of line they are out the door, next day a Polish lad takes his job and works all the hours he can.

Try out the Community Care sector, if you have the patience the money's OK and the job satisfaction is supposed to be good.

Good luck fellah !!

I easily were preaching this for weeks! Why no longer use convict exertions? we are already procuring their save and they ought to make contributions to our society to earn their earlier to civilization. it is going to artwork no longer basically in the Ag jobs, yet also highway fix and many different issues. enable human beings seem at them, a series gang is basically that and all it takes is a few guards with extreme powered rifles to allow them them pay their debt to society! we do not want unlawful extraterrestrial beings for something with tremendous warehouses of convicts to make a call on from, they lost their rights at the same time as they were sentenced!

Did you lose it because they found a better worker or because they're paying him less. If it's the former good luck to him and you've got to try harder in future. If it's the latter you probably have a good case to take it further see Citizens Advice.
