Get someone else to hold a glass of water while you drink from it. It works 90% of the time.

I find holding my breath and kinda swallowing the air down or alternatively smash up a bag of salt and vinegar crisps and then pour them in your mouth and eat them in a oner!!!!

get a glass of water with a straw and drink using the straw whilst you have your fingers in your ears and you are holding your breath!!
its foolproof but you look like a fool when your doing it!!

two hands required..
1/each hand first finger in ear.little finger pinch nose
2/deep breath hold it and count slowly.
always works after 2nd or third breath
