It's slim pickins for a 12 year old. You could babysit, but I wouldn't hire a 12 year old.
It's sad that you feel pressured to get a job to help out at home. This is an adult problem that should not be put onto your shoulders. Talk to your mom and tell her how concerned you are. But it's not your job to help support your family.

When I was twelve I babysat for kids that lived immediately next door to me. 12 is a little young to babysit, but most people will trust a 12 year old to sit for them if the girl/boy's parents are close by. Also, some women will pay a few dollars an hour to have a mommy's helper. You would look out for her kids while she made dinner or did house work. Conversely, if you have elderly neighbors you could go with them to the grocery store and help them handle their bags and put them away for them, vacuum for them, or do yard work for them.
If your mother is having money issues though, the best thing you can do is be supportive. Be extra good because she's probably under a lot of stress. Try not to ask for things you don't need, and appreciate the food and clothing you are able to have on your limited budget.

You can always babysit. My big sister started babysiting major and earned 300 in a whole year of it. It shouldn't be hard, just ask people with kids if they need you to babysit. Find a family that you like and stick with them. Start with a baby, don't start with more than 2 kids!!! Too much! And you are a 12 year old, don't worry about your parent's money(unless if they asked you to get a job!) or you can do some garden chore for your neighbors, and you can always just clean people's houses. Nobody wants to clean their own house! There are plenty of jobs! Hey, and you might want to put this under the preteen tab, but I won't report you for it now. Go to pregnany&parenting >Preteens> Questions! Good Luck!!!! I really really hoped I was a great help! Just to let you know I am 11!

You can't legally work until you're sixteen (at least in New York...I don't know if it's different or not where you live). But you can babysit, mow lawns, walk dogs, or other little things around your neighborhood. You should also try looking into selling Avon. They have this thing called Mark, which is supposed to be make-up and accesories targeted towards teens. Your mom could sign you up (in her name- you're too young) and you could sell make-up to all your friends at school. My mom just signed up, and if you're dedicated, you could make a lot of money. Good luck!

Isn't she too young for a job? May be you can do some crafts to sell. Try with wood or painting t-shirts or pillows. Go to Michael's and ask for help. Use foammy to make some ponytails, etc. Try to do simple things to sell. I did when I was 15.

You could find a friend whos family owns a business or restaurant and you could work under the table. My brother does it and he gets $50 a day for it. Good luck to you and your mom
