I have a beagle that does this too. Could be too much water at once or he's drinking it too fast. I did notice with my dog, that she NEVER throws up toilet water when she has a chance to get in the bathroom. Once I started raising her water bowl so that she doesn't have to lower her head as much, she stopped throwing up her water. Hope this helps a little.

My dog just started drinking excessive amounts of water. Then he throws up. He can eat food with no problem, but then has to drink and everything comes up. I have spent over a 1000.00 dollars the last 3 days at vets and emergency vets trying to find out what is the matter. He also chockes on his water. The test have all come back negative. His blood panels are great. He spent from 11:15 to 4:30 with vet doing barium xrays and blood test today. They even feed him and he didn t throw up. I asked them to give him a 1/2 cup of water and watch what happens. They didn t. Told me to bring him home limit his water intake and bring him back id he threw up. It s like he goes into a frenzy looking for water. He cries and begs for it. I even have to put on a leash to take him to bath room or he gets into the water pond to drink water. Well, I brought him home, gave him 1/2 a cup. He throw it up along with all the food they had fed him to see if he would throw that up. I m at my wits end. Need help!

Limit your pet's water intake before and after exercise. Dogs may throw up if their tummies are full. Also says dogs should avoid drinking water they find along outdoor paths. Standing water can create the potential for disease transmission
As I am not a vet yet and haven't seen the dog I would advise you to take him to your vet A.S.A.P.
Hope this way of help to you.....but your vet will be more help!

He's probably drinking the water too fast. This happens to my sister's dog sometimes. When you put water in his dish don't fill it up all of the way.

Is he drinking really fast? That may be why. If not, get your vet to check to see if he has a collapsed trachea or something like that. I don't know if that would affect drinking, but it's worth checking out. Good luck.

It's his way of telling you he prefers beer. Feed him 3 cans a day, increasing 1 can every week...
