If you are planning on staying in your area, the dealer you purchase it from will be very important. If you will not be servicing the vehicle yourself, the biggest consideration will be "can I trust this dealer to do the service?" Remember the Jetta with a 4 cylinder will get better mileage, if gas prices are the same.

The safety, however, will be better in a Jeep. The Liberty is just over 4000 lbs., and the jetta is considerably less mass. You can't beat mass in a crash, and the Liberty is an up-to-date design. The 3.7 V-6 in the liberty is a good engine with enough power for the car. I have not heard of big problems with liberties, and the design has matured. I was a mechanic in the midwest, and I can say every VW in the shop had some weird nasty electrical problem. The jeeps only needed common maintenance items like water pumps, oil changes, serpetine belts, or batteries. Good luck.

properly, i'm able to't say something undesirable with regard to the Passat curiously like an excellent vehicle. we've 2 Jeep Libertys, 2002 and 2006 and characteristic had no issues in any respect with them- we actually like them. The '02 is a 5spd and the '06 is a 6 spd. So, i could take the Libby it has only 20k and the Passat has 43k. besides the shown fact that, that's no longer a foul deal on the Passat and it in all probability gets greater advantageous mileage too. I could say, we offered our first Jeep in 1999, and that i grow to be very much bowled over on the time-honored- i grow to be looking forward to ythe Jeep of yesteryear, yet found a drumtight, severe-high quality coping with motor vehicle. That grow to be a Cherokee- the liberty feels like it could've been made in Germany- and it grow to be in actuality designed by ability of DahmlerBenz. The physique panels greater healthful o.k. and that's fairly particularly and comfortable using. yet another notice with regard to the liberty- it has between the optimal floor clearances of any SUV, no longer substantial to a pair, yet you may definately take it the place the Passat won't bypass.

They are totally different vehicles one is a sedan and the other a small SUV, so any of them has advantages and inconveniences. VW is expensive to buy and to maintain as you have to go always to the WV dealerships for repairs and their reliability is not good. I would choose the Jeep because even if you have a problem is cheaper to repair.

Jettas are expensive to maintain, but Jeeps fall apart very easily, so you're boned either way.

Buy a Nissan.

Jetta is far more reliable. Jeep is not bad, but if reliablility is what you seek go with the VW.

i love Volkswagons i have a jetta and it is great for me, i race it and i am hard on the transmission. alot of people trash the jetta because they have had problems with it but i love mine. it is also the safest thing around. jeeps are not very safe and the ride is usaly rough. also the gas mileage is great on the jetta.
