As a hair stylist with 8 years experience behind me I'd like to think that first impressions count for alot when a new client walks through the door, the client needs to know they are going to get your undivided attention from the word go. From the greeting to the consulation and finally the finished result. The stylist should be asking you 'open' questions to find ut about your lifestyle, time factors, how much maintenance you are willing to put into your new style. These things all determine wether you are going to get a cut you A; like B; Suits your hair type and life style and C; can maintain at home to keep your hair looking fab! I would say the 'top and bottom of it' is this, if the stylist makes you feel comfortable straight away the chances are your going to get the haircut you want. If your stylist doesn't make you feel comfortable or listen to what you have to say, Chances are you're going to walk out the door hating your new style and you'll never go back...

I think the best hair stylist is one who listens to what you actually want rather than what they think will suit you. They should offer you at least 10 minutes before you begin having your hair washed. They should look through magazines with you and touch your hair so they can offer guidance on the cuts available for your hair type etc.
The establishment should be clean and well lit with hopefully certificates on the wall showing the skills each staff member has achieved.
I also think they should be able to have a conversation with you that doesn't start with "so where are you going on holiday this year?" lol.

I always find that you know when you have had a good cut if it looks good wet!!

Finally they need to be able to make a strong cup of tea!!

The best way to find a good stylist is word of mouth. Ask people who they use. If you see someone w/ great hair- ask them where they get it done.
Another tip: when you go in for a cut/style, bring photos of what you like and what you hate. Photos speak the same language whereas trying to explain what you want may not translate properly.
Hope this helps!

it rather is not a salon that's huge, it rather is the stylists who artwork there. on the entire the chain salons are oftentimes the place a stylist gets their initiate, strengthen a customers, and pass directly to a place the place they are able to make a sprint additional money and desire the customers will stick to. via hours of those salons greater matured stylists would decide directly to artwork for a chain and characteristic the skill to artwork around different scheduling concerns (teenagers, section time interest, college etc...). Your terrific guess is to ask who interior the salon is sturdy at what you like carried out on your hair.

First of all when you first go into the salon and sign in look on the book and see who has been requested the most. Look for confidence. The one that looks at ease with what she is doing. When I first speak to them I would notice attitude in doing the best they can do to have repeat customers.

if you see there work on someone else head and its looks good....that's a good hairstylist...it really does not matter what the shop look like....she can be working in a run down building and can still hook your hair up and make it look pretty...its not what the stylist look like and where she work and how she talks ,its what she can do for you to make you look good ....everything else does not matter....
