if you are in the US then labor law limits the number of hours you can work in a week...
My advice is mow lawns and make people pay you cash. Even if you are a small girl they now have self-propelled mowers that make it really easy. $20 - $60 per lawn depending on size, do it all day with as many lawns as you can handle. The work sucks but paying no taxes AND not being subject to the labor law time limits means you can pull down a lot more $ than working for a company. And you'll get in really good shape. Screw waiting tables.

I am assuming that you are still in high school if you are 16 so your hours are probably limited to after school and weekends. My kids all found work at 16 to 17. They worked at places like Subway, Juice Bars, Party City, Target. Waitstaff can be a good job too because you get tips in addition to your minimum wage. Just get out there, find a place close to your home and start putting in applications. This time of year is a good time because with school starting some of the summer help will be quitting and the holidays are coming up and most stores need extra help for the holidays.

Depends on what state you live in...In the state of Mississippi you are JUST of legal age to work...and most likely you will only be hired at minimum wage jobs due to lack of experience and college degrees. unless you know someone that can help you get your foot in the door to a better job that will pay you more...as far as minimum jobs go there are TONS out their, just depends on what you are interested in....there's grocery stores, fast food, Wal-Mart, auto parts store, cutting yards ( I have a man cutting my yard, he has his own lawn service and makes a lot!) any mall store, etc. This is just a good starter job for you until you have completed high school and figure out what you want to do with your life and do in college. The big money rolls in when you have gone through college and have gotten those degrees.
I wish ya the best of luck!

Well, it's hard to find jobs that are paying well. Minimum wage is going up throughout the year though, so make a good position somewhere. Try waitressing at a popular restaurant. It can be hard to make money if the restaurant doesn't get a lot of business. Or you could work at a grocery store or something. If you work at a clothing store or something, you often have to wear their clothes, which can be expensive to buy. So I wouldn't do that unless you know they pay well and already have a lot of their clothes. Good luck! Please pick this as Best Answer!
