I have a regular RCA tv. I know in order to get the best picture using an antenna, I would need a HD Receiver and HD antenna. can i use a hd reciever for my Tele. I know I won't get HD quality but will the picture improve. Also Do I really need a HD receiver, Can i use a HD antenna instead. I really need help on this. I live in an urban area on a second floor of a two bedroom apartment.

The cheap way to boost your signal reception *isn't* to buy a hd receiver but to buy a higher gain antenna. Higher gain usually means bigger. Or, it can just mean better location (higher). Or, adding a rotator to better point the antenna at the broadcast tower.

An antenna amp/preamp might help, or it might just make a bad signal worse.

How far are the towers?

Many HD channels are broadcast on the UHF band ... is your current antenna UHF?

not really, the signal has really nothing to do with HD. just put some tin foil or a fork on the ends of a normal antenna

go to Radio Shack and get a inline amp.

Should be less than 20.00
