a cut rose can last anywhere from 2 days to almost 2 weeks depending on how old it was when you got it. if you change it's water every day(or every other) and cut the rose under running warm water at an angle with a sharp knife, then put it in the water immediately, you should get it to live longer. also, make sure there are no leaves under the water....they rot and the rot goes up the stem to the rose head.

It varies on the condition of the rose when you buy it. I have had a rose die overnight, and I have had a closed rose last almost 2 weeks. Don't go cheap- it really does make a difference.

If it's still a bud AND you recut it at the base of the stem underwater at a 45 degree AND chill it for about 20 min before putting it in a vase that contains water and plantfood... it could well last you a week.

Oh, and the longer the stem, the less they last because it takes the plant lots of energy to bring the nutrients all the way up to the petals. (same with more leaves... nutrients go to it instead of the flower itself)
