Well, it depends on what part of Hawaii to what part of California, and what type of boat you're using. But to answer generically, it took Karen Thorndike 35 days of sailing to get from Hilo, Hawaii to San Diego, California, on a 36-foot yacht.

Sailing a direct course from Hawaii to California is seldom possible because of the northeasterly winds. The recommended route from Hawaii is to sail due north till the area of steady westerly winds is reached then head for the coast. This route also avoids the calms of the north pacific high which in summer can be as far north as 40 degrees latitude and totally windless. What all this means is that it is a long round-about-way from Hawaii to San Diego.

It took an 86 foot Schooner named "Astor" 19 days to complete the voyage from Hawaii to Newport Beach in 2006, and a little over 16 days on a Rachel Pugh 68 in 2001 (see the second and third links below, respectively).
