Not a problem, any cat prefers to go to the loo in nice soil instead of litter.

All you have to do is put stones/marbles/decorative glass cabuchons all over the earth in the plant pots. That way you can still water the plants but the kitten will not want to use the plant pots as a toilet.

There is some stuff you can buy at your vet's office to spray on the dirt - or - you can make a cayenne pepper spray and spray it on the dirt. Both methods deter the little wonder from going there. Also, keep the litter tray cleaned out - cats don't like to use dirty litter.

Get a bag of holly leaves from the local park, and chop them up a bit (to make them less playable with). If you put them over the top of the potting mixture in a thin layer, pusskins will steer clear because the spikes will hurt his paws but you can still water through the holly, no problem.

Move the plant pots; he thinks they are litter trays, and wont get out of the habit until you move them- put them in a room where he cant get at them, and kep the door shut.

We have a cat who used to pee in our plants. Firstly, keep all plants off the floor - use big stools/chairs with no room to jump up to the plant. Also, we used aluminum foil around the base of the plant so she couldn't get in and when she tried to, she hated the noise. That seemed to put a stop to it.

You should try to reinforce the litter box by putting your kitty in there when you get home and throughout the day and night. You can put stuff in your soil to deter him from going in there, or you can put a cover over the soil. Do you see him doing it? Try the water bottle method when he gets near the plant, they dont like to get squirted with water.

Good luck.

Hi Jen...consider placing foil loosely over the soil and then apply citronella oil on top of it (this is available at the pet store). The foil will startle him when he jumps into the plant and the citronella acts as a natural deterrent that cats dislike.

I would get rid of the plants...Next the cat will start eating the plant unless you provide some good reading material while he's taking a **** = he'll die if that happens.

You can either put spray on it or a little fence around your plants or hang them up.Your kitten thinks of it because my friends cat will jump into it and try and pee but they put some spray stuff into it and she doesnt care about the plant anymore now all she wants is ATTENTION!

Several ways - any strong spice will keep them out - I've used cyan pepper; plastic forks sticking up in the dirt sometimes works - cutting a lid to fit around the plant and over the dirt will work too.
