When we went in there to look at bridal and bridesmaid dresses here is what happened (and why I HATE David's Bridal):

1) The associate was rude, told us to find what we wanted and did not assist us. A real bridal store will take you around and show you options (especially when you are going to be dropping a bundle in the store). This happened when we were looking at bridesmaid dresses as well as bridal dresses.

2) The dresses are overpriced. When we went to a REAL bridal store we got much better quality for the same price.

3) The selection was really limited, and since the salesgirls didn't offer any assistance we couldn't figure out if things came in other sizes/colors. There weren't even many bridal gowns that came in ivory. And the selection for bigger girls is totally 80's.

4) Maybe part of the reason the sales associates are so dismissive/rude is that they take on more than one appointment at a time. The place we evetually ended up going with scheduled a bridal consultation. We had the whole selection of bridal gowns to ourself as well as a salesgirl to help put the bride in the dress (which is something else that DB doesn't offer, since most people don't know how to put these dresses/undergarments on). Did I also mention that the bride's dress ended up being $400? That's just as cheap as DB, but the quality and service was 110% better.

Now maybe some people here like the store, but I have heard so many horror stories, including my own, that I could not hear of someone going there without the warning that the place is not the bridal heaven that they portray it to be. In fact, I think it's more of a bridal hell.

Never went there, but I had several friends that did. I think because they're such a big corporation, they don't handle individuals as carefully and with as much time as they should. All of my friends had horror stories about the wrong color, wrong size, feeling rushed, etc. I'm not saying that everyone has a bad experience, it's just what I've heard. Also, my mom is a seamstress who does many wedding dress alterations, and she says she can always tell when a bride gets a "deal" from David's Bridal because the quality of the gowns are not good at all. I think you're better off going to a smaller boutique, paying a little more, and getting better service and a better quality dress.

I didn't have a good experience with David's Bridal when I was in my planning stage. I went there to look at wedding dresses for the very first time and I wasn't greeted or anything. I was actually snubbed off. They were more worried about high school girls going to prom which is fine, but a hello would have been nice. I felt so out of place because I had no one with me or anything. I took my business elsewhere and was completely satisfied with the other place. They definitely deserved my business, unlike David's Bridal. I've heard many stories about David's Bridal and I think that place is too over rated.

I hated my experience with David's Bridal. They won't let you come in without an appointment, and even when we made an appointment, they made us wait 10 minutes before we had a consultant. When we found dresses to try on, we then had to wait another 5 minutes for a dressing room to become available.

Then my consultant kept leaving me to be with 2 other brides which would have been ok, but I really had questions about the dress, their ordering process, etc.

If you choose to have something altered there, they will not do anything to change the look of their gown (like add buttons, remove a bow...) Also, bridesmaids have to pay in full upfront. I don't know if that is true for bridal gowns, or not.

They also snapped at me for going over my limit of dresses to try on. It was SO weird.

I had a good experience. I LOVED my wedding gown and veil and had no issues.
Perfect quality, the dress was wonderful. I loved it so much I had it preserved at my dry cleaner's in pristine condition.

From the sounds of it, ALL DAVID'S BRIDALS ARE NOT THE SAME. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

In fact, I felt the bridal boutiques in my area were the ones that were snobby. You have to be very careful with a small bridal boutique that could go OUT OF BUSINESS tomorrow and leave you high and dry. Also, when I try on a dress- I want it to be in my size and I will not pay extra for being tall.

I will just re-post the answer I had for another questions:

I know David's Bridal seems to be getting a lot of crap, but I think David's Bridal is great. I happen to be very tall and Davids Bridal was a god-send when my best friend got married. She was able to find a dress for all of us in her bridal party and it fit us all (I was very tall, but most where shorter than average). AND to top it all off, I got my shoes there and they sold size 11 shoes right out of the store. That may not seem like a big deal to you all, but the chances of finding size 11 shoes IN A STORE and on the shelf is MAYBE 2%. Since I was so grateful to get a dress that was long enough off the rack that it didn't have to be lengthened AND finding shoes right off the shelf, when I get married it will be the first place I go for bride's maid dresses. They also had good prices that I saw.

Again, I happen to like David's Bridal. Me and the bride went to other stores looking for dresses and their dresses were too short, they didn't have as many styles, and/or higher priced. Its also great that David's Bridal carries a lot of sizes in each style so you aren't stuck trying on a size 6 dress when you are really a size 12 and guessing how its going to look on you!! David's Bridal will also dye shoes to match - which is included in the price of the shoes. It was a nice place and each time I went in there (once for the dress, once to find shoes, and another time to get a matching purse) it was a pleasant experience. I recommend them.

I went there myself to look for my bridal dress. The dresses were o.k., nothing THAT nice.

The service, now that was terrible. Not sure where you are from, but the David's Bridal in Feasterville, PA was awful. My "bridal consultant" could have cared less about me while I was there. She was too busy chatting with another one of her co-workers or was on her cell phone! She offered no suggestions what so ever. And trust me, I am not the only one who has complained about this store!

Good luck!

I haven't had issues with David's Bridal, except for the fact that some of their stuff IMHO is overpriced (but where isn't it??).

It may also depend on the individual store, and the individual sales associates, as opposed to "David's Bridal" in general.

I'm actually getting my wedding dress, bridesmaids dresses and flower girl dresses from there. I've had a good experience with them. I can see that someone might feel like it's hectic and she's not getting as much attention that she may want. You do want to have an appointment though and bring friends & family with you. It's fun to see other girls try on their dresses too.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a bridal store. Good Luck to you!

My aunt got her dress there and went to pick it up two days before her wedding. She just wanted to peek so she unzipped the bottom of the bag, and the enitre bottom of her dress was dirty. Like they had dragged it on the ground instead of picking it up. She told the girl that this was not acceptable, and they accused her of doing it. It was a mess, she took it to a dry cleaner and they cleaned it overnight, but you could still see a gray line around the bottom.

I ordered my bridesmaids dresses months ahead of time. It takes 8 weeks to get in, so I called when they were supposed to be there, and they hadn't ordered them yet.

When I went to buy a dress to be a bridemaid dress for my friends' wedding, they had me try on and fall in love with a dress that I could not order. (They were the seperates) So all the other girls got to pick out which top they wanted and I was stuck with a dress I hated. They hire these cute little teenagers who have NO idea what they are talking about.
