What I tell my clients is this: The American Heart Association has a online cookbook and it is great, if you go to their site you can find it, make the recipes there for your dinners, eat the leftovers for lunches.
Stay away from fast food places, fried foods, sodas, cheeses, sweet treats. Only have these things once or twice a week. Just by cutting these things out you'll lose weight.
Include some exercise into your world 5-6 days a week, start for 20 minutes a day and work up to an hour, take your time working up.
Try to not eat after 7:30, unless it's fruit, any fruit is good for you, eat as many fruits and veggies as you want.
Hope some of this helps you.......

Diets don't work. Better choices do. I'm in the same boat as you.....I decided yesterday I needed to go on a diet.......then I found myself eating half a bag of bbq chips! LOL
Well, I find that the best thing to do is to make SMALL changes.....for example:
Don't put butter or margarine on your bread.
By lowfat mayo and salad dressings.
Eat soup with each meal......it is low cal and filling.
Don't deprive yourself, because then when you cave you just end up eating more! For example, if you want fries, get a small one.
If you want bacon, eat it! Just don't over do it....because then you are just setting yourself up for feeling guilty later when you just "give up all together" and eat your way through the fridge.
Eat small portions, and snack throughout the day, so that you don't ever get that "starving" feeling.
My favorite staple when I'm trying to lose weight is this:
Chicken breasts
Lettuce (not iceberg......try romaine or the mixed bags they have at the store)
tomatos
Lowfat ranch or caeser dressing
Pita bread
parmesan cheese (it is low in fat)
Make a pita sandwich out of it. Yummy and lowfat. And filling.

Hi
During a diet, we reduce the calorie intake by some amount. It is important to develop a healthy diet , so that body receives sufficient nutrients even as you try to lose weight. Check the calorie count of the food you eat. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight.
Besides, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles to increase the metabolic rate.

Diets don't work. 99% gain the weight back. Kirstie Alley is back to binge eating. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

My threat is sweets, especially chocolate. So, I suck on 2-3 POWER-POPS a day. They contain Hoodia, which also suppresses my appetite. The flavors are to die for :)
