Doing both is best. I registered online first, then went to the store to check out what I registered, change if necessary, and add random other stuff that I hadn't seen online. I was really glad I checked everything out; some of the stuff looked different online than in the store.

i did both. i started by going in person to the store and talking to someone, looking around etc. and added stuff with the pricer gun. then i also went on line and would add merchandise to my registry. some stuff was store only, some was internet only but there was enough of a mix to be convenient for everybody. i found bed bath and beyond to have a very good and easy on line registry, and also helpful store person. surprisingly, target (my usual favorite store) was very difficult to register at

I'd say do it in person. It is fun plus you know what you are getting. A lot of items tend to look better online and when you get them it's not what you expected. A friend of mine did both and most of her gifts were nice but there were 2 or 3 she didn't like She later realized that the unwanted gifts was what she requested on her registry.

I think you're going about it the right way. If you're as busy as most working women are these days, and you pretty much know what you're looking for, then I say do it online. It's so much easier for you and your guests that way! Plus you might have a better selection online, since you're not limited to what's in stock at a particular store. But I do think you're smart to double check if you're not sure about some things.

I would definitely register in the store. You have to consider that what you register for on line may not necessarily be in store. If most of your guests are going to do their shopping on line, it's no big deal. But if your guests are going to go to the actual store, you may want to consider registering "in person." Plus, it's so fun!!!
Good luck.

It sounds like you already know the answer! Online is quick and easy, so I would go that route and do exactly what you said, double-check with things you're unsure about. I mean, a splatula is a spatula, but something like china could look different in person that online.

Speaking from experience I would rather just go into the store and pick the things you like. My wife and I did that at bed bath and beyond and we got pretty much everything we scanned. Plus its a good way to spend quality time with your loved one.

If you go in person to register for a wedding, some stores give you a nice gift for the registration.

In person better, most of the time the website doesn't display all kind of stuffs that you want to put into the registry. For example, a cooking pan, a website will not display all of them.

I liked going to the store with the little scanner (Linens 'n Things, I think it was) - it was like shopping, plus I got to see the exact color, size, texture, etc.
But we've also registered with Amazon.com, and that's strictly online, but most of that is kitchen gear that my fiance' already knows exactly what he wants.
