Get him an engraved silver hip flask. With a nice message engraved on the back.
It's nice and thoughtful, will make him think of you and will allow him the occasional sneaky nip of whiskey.
Sorted!

I would say try www.iwantoneofthose.com but you might not get delivery for weds.
They have loads of gifts and gadgets.
What you could do is get your dad a card and say present to follow and then have a look at above website!
If you lived near by to me in Essex i could have also done your balloons as i have my own website with the wife!

A CD of the year he was born
A choice of activities paid for by you (or your family - they can be expensive)

If you can afford it, get your Dad something he's wanted for some time. Something that fits in with his hobbies. Something that you know would make him happy.
Failing that, get him a DVD of his favourite TV show - something he hasn't got yet. A DVD of something cool can't go amiss.

My dad's 50th is coming up and I got a collection of photos of him and i as i was growing up. Then, i brought them to Wal-Mart and had them take the colour out of the photos (not black and white, but kinda brownish) and then I put them in a black collage frame. I hope he likes it.
