One of the Bad News Bears movies had that exact same notice. Immediately after writing the word "assume" on the blackboard, the coach drew two slashes on either side of the "u." It wound up looking like ***/u/me, as in "*** out of you and me."

Of course if you're playing Survivor or Big Brother, it's always ideal to assume an optimal game from your opposition.
