the nature and real causes of sheep - I'm afraid to say no. We know very little about how a sheeps' mind works. We use them for wool and stuff, but we're pretty ignorant when it comes to understanding them.

What...what? Sleep? Not sheep?

Oh, sorry...

Yes I understand the nature and real cause of sleep, however my time is up and I must go take my "reality" pills... TTFN.

No. We can tell some of its effects by the symptoms caused by its lack thereof. We can identify some of the biological timers involved by the symptoms caused by their malfunctioning. But the nature and cause of sleep, and most of consciousness, is still a big unknown. This doesn't mean the answers aren't out there, it just means science is still getting to the good parts. No god needed, just time and patience.

Most definately...sleep is necessary for our bodies to slow down some parts so it can heal others...essential to human maintenance.

It is also necessary for our spirits, which the body houses, to rejuvinate by freeing itself from the density of it's vehicle...gives us a chance to touch base at Home, travel around & check things out, etc.

yes. look it up is psychiatric books. its to help us process the day's events, and prevent us from going into overload and having mental breakdowns. People who haven't slept for days start acting stupidly, then have hallucinations, then have complete psychotic episodes that resemble schizophrenic episodes. So, sleep regularly.
