While I was running, I felt something pull in my hip. I kep running, but afterwords, it felt awful. I'm in young, and on cross country. I rested a couple times for 3 ish days, but it still is there.
It feels like it's in my hip muscle, and the doctor wasn't sure what it was exactly. It hurts after a workout for the next while, and I've tried ignoring it, but it hurts very badly.
Is there anything I could do that would help it go away. It would be nice if I didn't have to sit out the season, so if there was something I could do and still run for part of the season, it would be nice.
Also, what do you think it is? A muscle pull or what? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You need to go to an orthopedic doctor to rule out what it isn't. It could be a very serious injury that is not muscular but skeletal. If it is soft tissue damage, you need to stop and rest and let the muscle heal, ice it several times a day, take an anti-inflammatory. If you keep working out, you may cause futher damage and take even longer to heal.. It could be a type of fracture, that affects young people. Go to a sports medicine doctor, or an orthopedic doctor, they are usually one in the same.
You don't give any other history about yourself. Hard to guess what is wrong.

Could be a tendon pull instead of muscle which could turn into tendonitis. I have had this happen and I had thought it was just a pulled muscle but ended up not being and I just kept running like an idiot. So my advice go to the doctor and take some naproxen.

There are 10 things it could be.....in the hip it can be very confusing but you will have to see a expert on hips.... it could be something from a muscle sprain to a snapped hip... i would suggest rubbing something called phorpain gel that sooths the pain and it should be applied 3 times a day..... when you get up....after tea and just before you go to bed.......you will need to get this from a chemest as it is ibuprofen (5%) please seek some assistants with this.......

If you run a lot of sprints and short-distance, it might be a stress fracture in your leg. Or, if you're young enough, it might be your femur bone flaring out from all the motion you put into your legs. That's a normal thing for athletes, though. Go see a doctor to find out for sure.

look for a physical therapist in your area. if you have insurance it is usually covered, or get your doctor to recommend one. you may have somethind going on in your back, spine, stance, muscels, tendons, or the way you are exercising. there is no way to guess what is going on. you are young and ignoring is always a good option but it may not get rid of the problem. it may get worse, go away and come back......
place a bag of ice on your lower back, where your belt line is on the side of the injured leg. wrap the bag of ice in a towel and leave it on for 20 minutes. if that helps then definetly see another doctor and mention this to them.

Three days isn't long enough. Resist the temptation to overly exert yourself for a while longer...it's the only way. Pain relievers will make you think you are ready. Listen to your body while it's healing.

If you were running on uneven turrain its probably your tensor fascia latae. This is a band of tendon that runs from your hip to your knee. It is commonly strained when running on uneven surfaces.
The only way to help is to rest. If it flares up put some ice on it.

Try a different doctor. If you are feeling pain and your doctor cannot explain it, you need to see a differnet doctor immediately.
Get to another doctor while the symtoms are still there.
You may want to see a specialist.
Best wishes.
