How do I remove the recycle bin from my desktop? (Windows XP)?

I have downloaded Flyakite OS X and my desktop looks silly with a random recycle bin on it. Is there a way of hideing it or removing it? I would also like to get it back some time too, so I don't want it to be gone forever...

Click on the desk-top, go to properties, scroll down till you see a box that says hide icons. You trash bin should disappear, just reverse this to get it back.

revisions: you go to arrange icons, go to show icons, make it so it doesn't have check mark, to get it back just put the check mark back. you will find these when you right click the desk-top,it should be at the top of the menu that pops up.

Right click on the icon, then click on 'Delete' in the drop down list.

You can get it back by gooing to Start > Control Panel > My Computer > C:\ drive [look at bottom of drop down list]

you can hide it by right clicking then delete,make sure it says only the icon can be removed b4 clicking ok,and you can still see it in control panel
