Most video cameras have a composite video outputs that can drive almost any TV or Video monitor with a composite video input jack. The composite video jack can usually be found on the rear of the TV or monitor. Some TVs and monitors have the jacks on the front as well. The Video Jack is a small "RCA-type" jack and it is usually color-coded yellow (to match the plug provided by the camera manufacturer). Japanese manufacturer SHARP has some of the smallest monitors available.

Some of the newer cellphones allow you to receive live TV broadcasts and I believe some of them also have video input jacks. That's the smallest monitor I can think of without going into something custom (and expensive)

A portable DVD player with a 2" screen is readily available.
It has an "s" video jack.
