I am going through a bad divorce case- my husband called DCF on me and had my kids taken away, I had Saturday visitations, the first Sat I had my kids- I took them to the movies- when I got home, I was walking up my front porch step, and I saw a cross on my door in some oily substence- I kinda freaked, but no biggie- until I went inside my house, and the cross was also on the inside of the door as well. I had considerd that the oil seeped thru the door, but it was in a slightly different spot, and my back window was tamperd with- the only religious person I know is my ex's new girlfriend and now my ex- since he started going to church with her- but they are Morman- I can't find anything- that would suggest what the crosses mean- any ideas? I did call the police and filed a report but they can't do anything about it with out proof- they wouldn't even tell me what the substence is- whcich didnt wash off either- can anyone offer me any ideas? I am not making this up either-

I think you should get a restraining order against your ex husbands new woman and seriously consider buying and learning how to use a gun. You could have a serious nut job on your hands, and from my experience mormons are mostly all nuts anyway! Don't mean to scare you but think about it!

It is an inside job.

Who else except you has the key to your home? If nothing else is missing, it seems to be an attempt to threaten you in some way. Where do you live? Does anyone else have an interest in driving you away? And howmany people besides your hubby (ex) know that you are superstitious?

Seems your husband's job.

Interrogate them first, I even have a US army interrogaton guide. If you want i will email the pdf to you!!!

MODIFY: For safety sake, consider changing the locks on your door. IT is frightening that anyone could walk right in and do weird thingsto your stuff.

PSS- what sort ofacross? the usual christian cross, or the multiplication sign , or nazi swastika? If it is a cross, I don't think it could be harmful, although it does remind me of AliBaba and his forty theives. Get the alarm system!

1. Get a security system. You can generally get the system and have it installed for free by signing a contract. It will cost you about $25 a month for monitoring. If someone breaks in, the police will be notified.

2. Change all the locks on the doors. You can get a pack of locks and knobs pretty cheap at any hardware store and they are very easy to change out.

3. Get some of those window locks from the hardware store as well. They are pretty cheap too.

You didn't have a religious experience, you're husbad is messing with you. Don't let him get to you, but you need to put something in place to protect yourself.

Hi Shannon,

i'm not sure what the crosses mean other than maybe some kind of superstitious thing to "bless the house" or some kind of protection- not sure - i'm not mormon (i'm a Christian) and i find what you are describing really unusual.

i would definitely advise you to stay safe, and possibly find a friend who you can stay with or will stay with you so you are not alone.

i know that crosses in themselves have no power... And whatever purpose they are using this cross for (it doesn't seem to be something of the Lord- but rather either something superstitious or evil).

Stay safe, and i'll be praying for you...

I think it's just a scare tactic. My roommate went through the same thing, only her husband was a cop. He had police officers harrassing her and coming to the house, saying she was stalking his girlfriend (also a cop).

I would keep notes, pictures, anything of what happens. Record voicemails. Do whatever it takes to prove who's doing it and get a restraining order. Then you can have them arrested if they bother you.

That is totally psycho behavior- call the police and report it, take pictures of the vandalism and report any more incedent(s) to the police accordingly. I would say try to find out what the substance is but you may want to just have the door replaced.

shannon s,
I don't know of a Biblical directive that would have someone break and enter, and deface your property, and hang oil soaked crosses on you door. I think you have a nutcase loose. Tell everyone that you think might help. If your kids were taken away from you, you might be guilty of something. Consider those you consider your 'friends.' At least one of them might not really be a friend.

Take pictures & go to their church and show them to the Pastor...

Or call the DCF yourself and ask them why you shouldn't be nervous for the safety of your kids while your ex is running around with a lunatic.

Or click this http://www.mormon.org/welcome/0,6929,403-1,00.html and "aska question...

it was probably olive oil and they probably thought they were cleansing your home of evil, however if educated christians knew what a cross stood for and it's history they wouldn't be wearing one or marching in the streets with it or have it on their temples. being an ex church goer people should study before they commit an act of blasphemy in Yeshua's (Jesus's) name.
