Anything you put above your relationship with God is an idol. This can include hobbies, people, etc. Is time with your car passion more important to you than time with God? If yes, this is an idol worship. God is jealous God...no idols before him.

The Scripture says, "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." A god can be construed as something you actually physically worship, or something you love more than serving God. If it separates you from God's presence, then it could be considered a false god of sorts.

Many of us only ask our hobbies to intercede on our behalf with God. We do not worship them. For example, just before I go to bed I always ask my tool-box to put in a good word for me with the Virgin Mary, who in turn will put in a good one in for me with Jesus, and on down the line.
