It came with six little gizmos that are shaped like half a trapezoid. There are slots in the back, but I don't know how to fit them in to make the canvas stay in the frame! Please help!

Are the gizmos sharp on one end? If so, they sound like framer's points. If the canvas is shallower than the frame, the points should be pushed into the frame flat to the back of the canvas. However if the canvas goes beyond the frame, the points must somehow fit into the frame (in the slots?) and the point driven into the side of the canvas.

When framing we use L-shaped offsets to hold a canvas into a frame that is more shallow than the canvas... I honestly don't know how points would hold it in if that's the case. Write more info by Editing your Question, perhaps I can help further.
