Lets hope it is not increasing! It seems that all the racist people like to come out and speak on anonymous sites like this one, because they know we cant find them.

I'm amazed at how casually people use the word "hate". Hatred is an "out of control" situation that eats at your insides.. No one worthy of being called a sniper "hates" his target, because then he's likely to miss. Do you really HATE anyone?
I hope and believe that Americans aren't becoming increasingly racist. We've been through that long ago, and it didn't work very well.

I think the racism is being expressed more because many communities are seeing a large number of immigrants all of a sudden. Communities in the south and midwest that were not accustomed to seeing people of different races now have to adjust to the culture of other people. Many of these people did not have a strong opinion about the immigrants until lately. Now they are expressing views that sound racist.

The way people view illegal immigration is not about racism. At least not fully. It's the actions of the illegals that make people feel that way. Why on earth should someone go to any country, sneak in actaually, and think that becaus they're here, they deserve SOMETHING. Something for nothing? I think not! This is not restricted to only one people. There are illegals from every bloody race and country here. If it's racism that people do not feel they need to just hand illegals everything on a platter, oh well.

I don't think their views on immigration really affects it and I think the America as a whole is becoming a little better about accepting others and their ethnicity's and lifestyle choices.
However there are always going to be those people who are going to be racist until they die.

Yes, I definitely think so. All you have to do is just observe your surroundings. I find it rare to see people of different races hanging out together. There are all kinds of racial slurs/jokes in the media. Just the other day, I was watching the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and he poked fun at the new husband of the very gorgeous Elizabeth Hurley for being Indian. He joked by saying, she's going to have a lifetime of IT support. This show is on national tv and he can just tell that joke and laugh about it? I say, heck yeah, racisim is still alive and getting stronger in America.

You are obviously younger than I am. To believe there is more racism now than in 60s, is so wrong. Wanting people to immigrate legally does not compare to the racism of the 60s.
Race has nothing to do with illegal immigration, we allow legal immigrates all the time.

I have family here for ages I am 5th generation. Our family has proudly served in the military and died to protect this country. Yet I experienced forms of prejudice everyday of my life. At church, in the scouts, in the streets and by bill collectors. Also by the people that supposedly that my ancestry descends. I have learned to combat the problems with knowledge and education. Ive learned to defend myself with words which the average person would need a dictionary in order to realized they they've just been insulted. It's a daily part of life so sometimes when the ugly racist monster bears his head I know exactly how to counter it.

I'm an immigrant. I am white, and speak perfect English. I am viewed as an American, until I tell them I am a Canadian immigrant (by marriage)
Their opinion normally changes for the worst at that point.
Most Americans are ignorant is the problem. Racist is another form of ignorance.

Most Americans have a problem with ILLEGAL immigration, not immigration in general. And don't forget "American" does necessarily mean white, or refer to any one race. Elitist, maybe. Racist, no.
