if its in his nature to be good (ie he cannot be bad) - then why is he given so much credit for being good?

doesnt he just act according to his nature as we act according to ours ?

Its a good question, i always wonder when people say god is perfect. Why is he perfect? is he perfect in comparrison to us or is he perfect in general? if he is perfect in general then who decided he was perfect? if god decided he was perfect then isn't that arrogance? in which case he isn't perfect. Its a vicious cycle!

What religion teaches that god is limited in that he does not even have as much free agency as man? I'd say your basic premise is nonsensical.

Of course God has free agency. He can "be" however he wants to be. He is good because He does good. We can be the same way.

there is no affirmation that by human morals God could be considered good. the only evidence we have of God's stated goodness is from the bible. if you consider the bible written by man then man could have made an error. If you consider the bible written by God, then God called Himself good... however, if God is NOT good, then what would stop Him from lying to us in the bible?

HOWEVER, God is not bound by human laws of morality, which are dependant on divine will and therefore mutable (in divine command theory). instead, God is what we call the only necessarily moral being, that is, EVERYTHING God does is necessarily good no matter what, even if it seems contradictory to human morality.

Because of His unselfish ,unconditional love.
Also because He loved us with an ever lasting love.
The human love may change;but His love will never change.
The earthly people may let us down;but God will never, never let us down.
We may be not true to Him ,but He is always faithful to us.Even our parents and siblings may let us down but God our Heavenly Father will always uphold us.

God has given us commandments no one has given them to God. If a fireman rescued you and your child from a burning building would you not say thanks because its their job! Because I appreciate knowing I can always depend on God I give him Thanks. I especially thank Jesus for laying down his life for mine.

you really should define what you mean by 'good'. E.g. if you take the bible seriously then a standard of goodness and decency might be upholding the ten commandments. You know...don;t murder people, don't lie, don;t steal, don;t be jeallous...that sort of thing. The god of the old testament would fail dismally if judged according to his own laws. Consider how many people he murders for no obvious reason, how jeallously he guards his status as The One, how cruelly he treats his faithful flock (never mind everyone else). How 'good' is someone who damns an entire species for all enternity because one of them made a mistake? Hardly open-minded, understanding, forgiving...all things which are surely considered 'good' by some. Standing by and watching his beloved 'children' suffer as millions do every day...dunno. At the very least he must have a 'good' sense of humour.

Think about all He's done for humanity.
God is GOOD
God is HOLY
God cannot be bad because it is His nature to be good. He's given credit for it because it's praise to Him, which He deserves because He is so good!

God is Holy and God is God and therefore by His very nature deserves to be worshipped.
